A noise interrupted the silence, an irritating short, high pitched noise that set his teeth on edge. He knew that noise.

He was tired of hearing that goddamned noise!

'Why is it always us?'

'Beats me but it does get annoying doesn't it?'

'Annoying? We are so upping our training, this is getting ridiculous!'

*You'll hear no complaints here, it was rather pathetic to nearly die in a shitty shopping centre because of a guy we don't fucking know.*

'Yeah.....that was really weird, he seemed to know us.'

'Not right now Shin, we haven't even opened our eyes yet and I already feel like crap.'

Slowly Izuku tensed his body, grateful for every body part he was able to move, he had been terrified that guys quirk had eaten through his spinal column when his body had gone numb but, it seemed like it hadn't been the case.

'Both arms, both legs, main torso muscle groups are able to be moved too so no spinal damage, no degradation either so I haven't been out for long, four days maximum, a day at minimum, my pain isn't as severe as before so I've had medical attention-'

'That and we aren't dead.'

'Yeah, so all in all, not a bad go, less damage than expected and-'

*Oi, Aizawa's calling you.*

"Midoriya? Can you hear me? C'mon kid I know you're awake, you're mumbling." Izuku flushed red before he even opened his eyes,
"O-oh, Aizawa-sensei, s-sorry, I d-didn't mean t-to-"
His raspy apology was stopped by a hand covering his mouth,
"You worried a lot of people kid, it's good to see you awake."

The green haired boy smiled softly, pushing down on his arms so he was sitting upright, hissing when he felt a dull throbbing pain in his neck followed by tightness.
"Oh, yeah, you had to get some skin grafts and muscle replacements, it's going to scar and be difficult to talk, maybe eat, for a while." Izuku nodded, staring down at his lap as his right hand felt the thick bandages around his throat.

"H-how's Kacchan a-and Shoto? I t-thought they'd b-be, b-be here t-too." He watched as the man's hand came up to rub at the bridge of his nose, a world weary sigh easily audible,
"Not going to lie, it hit them hard and they're probably going to be extremely clingy for a long while. You.....you were really close to dying. Really close." He swallowed and sat up fully on the uncomfortably 'padded' hospital chair, forearms resting on his knees, head bowed,
"It scared me kid."

The admission was barely a whisper, Izuku thought he had misheard for a moment before the words fully hit him, a strange mix of fondness, happiness, grief and contentment swirled inside him, overwhelming in its intensity.

Tears built in his eyes and overflowed, his hands moving to cover his face as he sobbed. The bed dipped on one side, a strong arm carefully wrapping around his shoulders, pulling his head to a firm chest.
"'M-'m s-so-sorry, I-I d-didn't- w-who-" Shota shushed the bawling boy, carding his hands through lackluster curls,
"You're fine kid, let it out." If his voice was thick with tears, well, no one but the two of them would know.

*********

"Kacchan! Shoto!" Izuku beamed happily when the two boys entered his hospital room, his hands raising and making grabbing motions that neither boy denied, Katsuki sitting to Izuku's left, Shoto, his right, their arms wrapping the smaller boy in a careful embrace.
