Imagine:

Darry's POV:

"Hey, Pony, Soda, can you guys be out of the house tonight?" I call out to my brothers.

"Yeah, sure. Why?" Soda asks.

"I'm having Brie over, and I want the house empty," I explain to him, only to get a wink in response.

"Should we find somewhere to spend the night?" He asks. I sigh.

"No, Sodapop... I just need you guys to be out until 9 or 10ish. I'm just making dinner for her and then we'll stay here or catch a movie or something after." He nods.

"I was goin' to the drive in with Steve, anyways. I'll bring Pony with us," Soda tells me. I nod my thanks and go into the kitchen to start making a special dinner for my girlfriend and I.

"Bye, Darry! We're leaving now!" My brothers call out to me after a while. I yell a quick "See you later!" in response and check the time. 7:15, Brie should be here soon.

I look down at my clothes, they're stained from cooking, so I decided to go change. After stirring the pot that the food was cooking in, I run into my room and put on the black shirt that Brie got me for our anniversary last year, and a clean pair of jeans. Then I go back into the kitchen to serve everything.

I decided to be romantic tonight, so when Brie walks in all the lights will be off, but the dining room table will be candlelit. She'll sit across from me to see her favorite meal cooked and on the table ready to meet. And then I'll pop the question.

Just as I'm lighting the last candle, I hear Brie call from the door, "Darry? Are you home?"

"In here!" I yell. She walks in, and I grab her by the waist and pull her in for a kiss.

"You look beautiful," I say, looking at her dress. She blushes and takes a strand of her long blond hair in her hand, twirling it around her fingers. She looks adorable when she blushes.

"Thanks. So what's all this?" She asks. I explain that it's just a nice dinner and that she should sit down and eat. She does and I wait for her to take the first bite.

"Mmmm, Darry, this is amazing," She says, tasting it. I smile.

"I'm glad you like it, princess. I made it for you, since I know it's your favorite." With that she gives me one of her wide, beautiful smiles.

"Thank you, Darry," She says. I lean over to kiss her cheek in response.

And then after a minute she asks, "So you're sure this isn't for any special occasions?" I give her a little grin.

"Can't a guy make his amazing girlfriend dinner every once in a while?" I ask her, not wanting to lie and say no, but also not wanting to tell her now. I want it to be a surprise, one that she's not expecting.

"Well, I guess so, but you're usually not this romantic. I mean, a candlelit dinner, Darry?" She says, laughing to herself. I tell her that I thought she would like it, and that's why I did it.

"Well, I love it, Darebear. And I love you," She says, squeezing my hand from under the table. She's called me Darebear for years. We've been best friends ever since we met in kindergarten. Finally, back in high school, after crushing on her for years, I asked her out. She of course said yes.

After a while, she and I finish dinner. "That was wonderful, Darry. Do you have anything else planned for tonight?" She asks. We both get up and walk over to the couch.

"Not really... How about some dessert?" I joke, kissing her passionately.

"Sounds good to me," She says, putting her arms around my neck. Not breaking the kiss, I pull her onto my lap.

"I love you, Brie," I whisper, after a while. She blushes. Man, she's beautiful. How did I ever get so lucky as to win her?

"You know, I honestly can't remember a time where I haven't loved you, Darry," She tells me. I hug her.

"I can't either. And I have a question, kind of relating to that..." I tell her, getting off the couch.

"What?" She asks. I don't think she's expecting it at all, because as soon as I get down on one knee her eyes get watery and she whispers, "Darry..." I smile at her.

"Like you just said, I can't remember a time when I haven't loved you, so I think this would be a good time to ask you this.... So, Brielle (your middle and last name) I don't know about you, but I would give anything to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me, my love?" Tears run down her cheeks, and I wipe them away immediately.

"Darry... I'd love to," She says. I pull her into my arms and let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in.

"Really? That's great!" I say. She nods.

"We should start planning the wedding soon," She says. I nod.

"Good idea, angel. I want you to officially be mine as soon as possible," I tell her. The rest of that night I don't let her out of my arms. Finally she's going to be mine, my Mrs. Curtis. I've been waiting my entire life.
