You're sleeping over and get scared during a thunder storm

"They fighting again?" My best friend Ponyboy asked, putting an arm around me while Soda grabbed me a towel. I nodded, why else would I have ran over here in the middle of a rainstorm? It had been dark and gloomy all day, and I should have known something bad was going to happen.

"You can stay here tonight, Mehgan," Darry offered, knowing full well that I wouldn't ask myself.

"Thank you," I said, sitting down on the couch.

"Do you need pajamas?" Pony asked. I nodded, and he grabbed me a pair of his sweats, which were way too big for me, and an old shirt, also too big. I didn't mind, at least they smelled like him.

"Ponyboy, it's 10:30. You better be heading off to bed," Darry suggested, glancing towards the clock. He nodded, said goodnight to me, and went into his room.

"You gonna be okay on the couch?" Darry made sure, grabbing me a blanket and pillow. I nodded and thanked him. He smiled at me before saying goodnight and heading off to bed. The lights were turned off and I was under a wad of covers. I tossed and turned, rain pitter-pattering on windows around me. It was loud. I was more focused on that than trying to sleep. There was a sudden burst, "BAM!" and the thunder began. Lightning illuminated the room for less than a second, and then it was back to pitch black. I pulled my blanket up, shivering. The thunder got louder and closer over the next few minutes. I closed my eyes, trying not to focus on it, but it wasn't working. Anyways, I could see the lightning even with my eyes closed. I tried turning over and burying my face in the pillow. It didn't help, I still could hear it. It seemed as if the storm was right on top of the house now, and I was starting to get nervous. I pulled my legs up to my chest. I could smell Ponyboy on my clothes. Ponboy...

I got up and ran into his room.

"Ponyboy," I muttered, trying not to wake him, but also wanting to talk to him. I crawled into bed next to him.

"Pony?" I whispered again. He groaned, and I laid down next to him. He and I had never slept in the same bed before, but I knew he wouldn't mind. He immediately wrapped me in his arms, and I felt a whole lot safer. My heart stopped racing as I listened to his calm, soft breathing.

One more burst of thunder, and I looked at the clock, afraid. It was 11:15. Snuggling closer into him, I fell asleep.

We both woke up the next morning around the same time. The storm had turned into a light drizzle, but the sun was out again.

"Hey," Ponyboy muttered. Then he blinked, rubbed the sleep out of his red. "Did you sleep in here last night?" He asked. I guess he didn't remember me coming in. I nodded.

"I... there was lightning and I got scared," I admitted. I hoped he didn't mind too much.

"Well... you should do this more. I like having you in my arms," he admitted. I smiled.

"Maybe I will."
