I love love love this one!

"How do I get a girl to like me, Two-Bit?" It was a stupid question to ask him, I know it now, but he was the only one home, and he seems to be pretty good with the ladies.

"You got someone in mind? There are lotsa things that you gotta do to get a nice broad," he said. I shrugged. Of course I had someone. Emily. But I wouldn't admit it, because he might make her life a nightmare.

"Yeah, I got someone," I responded. "She has short blonde hair, a nose ring, and cute little glasses. She's tall and skinny, and she's in a few of my classes," I said. At nose ring, I thought I had given it away, but he didn't seem to pick up.

"Is she pretty?" He asked. I nodded. Oh yeah, she is. Emily is gorgeous.

"Well, Ponyboy," he put his hand on my shoulder, "The first thing you gotta do is get her attention." I stared at him. He didn't elaborate.

"What, so go up and say hi?" I asked. He shook his head.

"No! That's not gonna get a girl to pay attention to you!" He smacked his head. "Then what do you do?" I questioned. He laughed like it was the most obvious thing in the world and me not knowing was just sad.

"You gotta go up to her," he said, walking up closer to me. "And you have to take her hair and flip it." I stared at him. This didn't seem right... But he did seem to know what he was talking about.

"And when she asks what you're doing? Scratch your armpits and act like a monkey." He sounded the most serious I had ever heard him, and he wasn't cracking a smile."Is... is that how you got Katy to go out with you?" I stuttered. He nodded.

"How else would I have done it?"

"Oh. Um..." I cleared my throat. "W-what else?" He smiled at me.

"You didn't really believe that, did ya?" He laughed hysterically, and after a second I did too.

"Nah, you wanna know how to really do it?" He asked. I nodded, hoping he would give a real answer this time.

"Go up to her..." He said, his voice a whisper. "And whisper," his voice got a bit louder. "'WANNA SEE A REAL LIVE HOT DOG?" He burst out laughing. I blushed, embarrassed.

"I'm not doing that, Two-Bit," I said, immediately.

"Right, sorry," he said. He seemed to think it was a lot more funny than me, for how much he was laughing. He looked around the room.

"Fine, here's what ya really do. Go up, and pull her skirt up. That'll really get her to notice you," he suggested. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help laughing at that one. I didn't find it nearly as funny as he did, though.

"Two-Bit! I wanna ask her out tomorrow. It's Valentine's Day!" I exclaimed, trying very hard to get a real answer out of him. It was harder than I thought, and I was ready to get up.

"Just... Go up to her and tell her how you feel," he said. And that's how I ended up standing in front of you before math class, Emily, stuttering and sweating as I tried to get a date from you, the prettiest girl in the school.

"Ponyboy, are you okay?" You asked after I could barely choke out the word hi. I felt like I was gonna throw up. How do you deal with a situation like that? Think back to what you know about girls. Of course, all I had learned recently was not to do, so of course that's exactly what I did. I touched your hair. You stared at my hand, not knowing whether to smack it away or not. You asked me what I was doing, so of course I couldn't respond. I started scratching my armpits.

"Ooh ooh! Aah ahh!" You raised your eyebrows.

"Ponyboy, are you on something?" I shook my head. I still felt sick, and I knew I was making a total fool out of myself.

"Hey Ponyboy, would it help if I did this?" A voice yelled. I looked over just in time to see a skirt fly up, and then back down just before I saw her panties. She screamed and smacked him, and then he made a joke about how she should kiss it and make it better. I counted my blessings, silently thanking him for not doing it to you. Everyone was frozen in silence, and it gave me a second to figure out what I wanted to say. I took a deep breath, careful not to spray chunks on your expensive shoes, Emily, and finally said what I wanted to."I like you, Emily." You stared at me.

"What?" Oh god, I was so nervous when you said that. I thought that was your way of saying you didn't feel the same.

"I... Do you want to go out tonight? For Valentines Day?" You nodded.

"I'd love to." I wasn't expecting that at all.

"Wait, really?" You nodded, and my racing heart slowed down. My nausea subsided. Two-Bit smiled at me with a red cheek, giving me a thumbs up.

"Yeah. I... I like you, Ponyboy. But for future reference, acting like a monkey isn't the greatest way to tell a girl that." You winked at me and I felt like I was on cloud 9.
