He admits that he likes you (I'm writing this on a computer so it's gonna be spaced funny. Bear with me)

"Hey, you wanna go to the Nightly Double tonight? Some of the guys are coming," I asked Elyea one afternoon. I had asked Johnny and Ponyboy earlier, but everyone else, other than Two-Bit had to work. He said he'd come if he weren't too drunk.

"Uh, sure. What are they playing?" She asked, smiling through her beautiful eyes. I shrugged.

"Probably some stupid beach movie. But we'll get some popcorn and stuff and maybe go out later," I responded.

"Out? Where?" She responded. Probably worried about money again, she always was. Her parents were struggling, but wouldn't let her get a job, only being 15. I always offered to pay for her, but she'd rather take a little risk and sneak in to theaters, run out of restaurants before we got the check, things like that. She always had a dangerous smile on her face before we did these things, like even though she was embarrassed, she was also excited. I liked that, and I liked a girl that could have some fun once in a while.

"Probably just the Dingo, unless you can think of anywhere better." She nodded.

"I'll be there. Just name a time." I told her 8:00, and we went our separate ways. She probably went home, and I went to the Curtis's to hang out. At around 7:30, my friends and I left. I hadn't told them that Elyea was coming, and I half hoped that they wouldn't mind me sitting alone with her. I needed to talk to her alone.

We her met at the corner of Pickett and Sutton, and went to the drive in. Johnny went under the fence first, then Ponyboy, and Elyea stood there for a second staring. I pushed her lightly, hoping this wouldn't make the difference of getting caught or not. I had plans for tonight, and getting arrested wasn't one of them. Anyways, those three wouldn't do good there.

"You going?" I asked her. She stood there.

"It always happens when I do this. I feel guilty for a minute, and then I enjoy myself, but then I feel guilty again. Look at all the people in there that had to pay," she said. I looked around.

"Look at all the guys that hid in the trunk so they didn't have to pay," I responded, although I did bring money just in case. I tried to rush everything along so we wouldn't get in trouble.

"You're right," she said, going down and crawling through the fence. I did the same. Ponyboy and Johnny were luckily already sitting, so Elyea and I sat a row behind them. Without thinking, I immediately put my arm around her. She probably thought it was weird, I realized, as she gave me a look, blushing. But she didn't protest, so I kept it there, and let our bodies knit together. She put her head on my shoulder, watching the movie quietly. Ponyboy and Johnny sat in front of us, whispering about the movie, but I didn't have a clue what was going on. I'd never felt the way I did when Elyea was this close to me. I liked it.

At the end of the movie, we had to get up, much to my silent protests. She looked in my eyes and smiled. I went blank for a second, forgetting everything I'd wanted to say.

"Dallas?" She asked me before I could get a word out of my mouth.

"Yeah?" She smiled at me.

"I wanna talk to you," she said. I was almost worried that it wasn't good, so I decided I should go first.

"Me first," I said. She didn't protest, so I kept going. "I really like you, Elyea." I didn't know how to put it better into words than that. She started laughing and I felt myself getting even more nervous.

"It's funny..." she began. My heart raced. "I was just gonna tell you the same thing... But I didn't think you'd feel the same." Of course I wouldn't, I've never had a crush before, I thought to myself. I'd had girlfriends, but not anyone... important, like Elyea. I had girls to have fun with. Never anything more. This was going to be an adventure, I realized, taking her hand in mine.
