"I'm going to take you somewhere very special. I hope you like it!" His smirk disappears.
"Oh, okay." I grin.
"This place means a lot to me. If you don't like it don't tell me. I want to believe that you love it too." My heart deepens as he talks about this place so passionately.
"I'm sure I'll love it!"------
"McDonalds! Special my ass." I shout, playfully.
"Yes. McDonalds. It's very special." He holds a hand to his heart; offended.
"What ever you say Mr. Romatic!" I exclaim. Rolling my eyes.
"Hey! Wait for me." He catches up.We take a seat at a table and we order to our table so we can chat. I look around the place, there's a few younger teens with their friends and a few families. I bite my lip, trying not to think about the happy families and the kids getting on great with their parents. I turn back to Romeo and he's smiling at me.
A worker comes over with our food on a tray and places it in the middle of our table. She nods and walks back to the kitchen. I pick up some fries and place them in front of me. Opening the bigmac box, I layed the fries in the other part of the box. Once I set my food out, I look up to see Romeo holding back a laugh.
"What?" My voice is unintentionally harsh.
"Nothing... I've just never seen someone so organised with their food." He chuckles.
"Whatever. Anyways, what makes McDonald's so special?" I change the subject.
"Well, it's easy to get too, cheap, tastes good and well... yeah that's aboout it. It's always there for you."I scoff and continue eating my fries. The place eventually becomes quieter, with families going to send their kids to bed and the young teens going back to whatever they do. Quiet music plays in the background and I hum along to the tune. My shoulders begin to sway lightly and then my whole body is rocking from side to side. Romeo mocks my slight movement and I smile as he exaggerates my movements. I grab his hand and try to pull him to his feet but he slumps back in his chair.
"Come on! Dance with me!... or be a bad boyfriend." I fake pout.
"Chiara," he sighs, "I do not dance." He sounds final.
"Fine." I glance around the room until my eyes set on a teenager probably my age and I smirk at Romeo whilst keeping my eyes on the guy.I begin to walk over to the mystery teen that hasn't even bothered to acknowledge my presence. Romeo is whisper-shouting my name but I ignore him. I'm a few meters away from the other guy and Romeo pulls me into him by my waist.
"Fine. I'll dance." He sighs.I walk him to the middle, within the open space and I lean into him a little. I bring my mouth to his ear and begin to whisper.
"I don't want to dance anymore." I giggle and waddle back to my seat. Romeo rolls his neck back and sits back down with me, a scowl on his face. I close the big mac box since I've finished my food and lean into the back of the seat."Come on. Let's go." Romeo holds his hand out to me and I walk beside him. We leave the McDonalds and I yawn. I lean in closer to his side and he wraps his arm around my shoulder.
"Where are we going?" I ask sleepily."
"Somewhere I found a few weeks ago, I wanted to show you but we never got time." His voice is kind.
"How long a walk?"
"5 more minutes."I sigh and drag my feet along the floor.
"Let me carry you, you're tired." He scoops me up in his arms and I rest my head against his neck. His usual cologne filled my nose and I feel at ease. I close my eyes and my body feels light as I relax. As he walks, I bob a little up and down yet it's still calming."Chiara... Chi, we're here. You awake?" He whispers but it's a loud whisper.
"Mhm." I groan and open my eyes.Sunset has just fallen so the night is mostly dark but I can still see the landscape. I turn in a full circle taking in each and every view.
"Where are we?" I ask, still a little tired.
"A hidden bay." He sounds so proud of himself.
"It's so beautiful." I smile. We lay in the sand and watch as the stars become brighter. I lace my fingers with Romeo's and I turn to face him yet he doesn't look at me back.
"Did you really think I would take you to McDonald's and that's it?" He chuckles.
"I mean... yeah?" It comes out more as a question.
"Oh no,no. You got that all wrong." He chuckles again.I get up on my feet and walk closer to the water. As the waves roll in, the water brushes past my feet. I take in my surroundings and as I look back to the side, Romeo is sat up resting his arms on his knees. His face is illuminated by the moon and smiles once my eyes land on his.
"Can we come tomorrow, with Rose?" I ask.
"Yeah, I think she'd like it here." He replies whilst I take a seat next to him. His arm wraps around my shoulders and I lean into him. He eventually flops down and my head hits his chest. He winces and I laugh as he rubs his chest. We eventually calm down to where the only noise is our light breathing. I close my eyes and Romeo rubs up and down my arm. I allow myself to calm and my muscles relax. I try to keep my eyes open but they flicker shut. I try my hardest to stay awake since we ought to get going. Rose and my Dad will be scared if we come home past 12ish. I don't even know what time it is.
I can't help but to shut off and keep my eyes closed. I'm exhausted and it seems that Romeo is just appreciating the moment. Eventually, sleep comes over me and I fall into a world of dreams.
