I woke up to the birds chirping and the sunlight seeping in with any chance it has. It was so surreal. The sheer curtains fluttered from the open windows, allowing all the beautiful sounds to fill the room.
I didn't want to get up just yet so I lay with my eyes closed listening to the songbirds from my window. I could definitely wake up to this everyday.
The bird's music slowly faded out as I realised I was falling asleep to it. I couldn't sleep in too long, I know I had a big day ahead so I decided to get up and I walked to the kitchen where the smell of fresh citrus filled my senses.
"Wow!" I gasp, "This looks delicious. Thank you."
I look around the platter in front of me, pastries, fruit and all sorts. This is a dream come true. I felt amazing. I was so jealous of the kids who get to grow up here. They're living the best life and they probably don't even know it.I pick up some fruit and start eating away. It was fresh and delicious. Just what I needed. I chewed away not caring if I looked greedy, I was so obsessed with the picture perfect scene under my nose. I wanted to take a photo of it before half of it was gone. My fault, obviously.
I'm pulled out of my daydream from an answering machine. It was Rose, and someone else too. It was a deep male voice. I wonder who it could be. They were here to take me around the city. For my big tourist day.
I tell my father I'm going to freshen up since I'm still in my sleeping clothes. That's when I realise I didn't actually have anything else to wear, other than the clothes I was wearing yesterday. But I didn't really want to wear them, they weren't really that clean anymore.
I hear the front door close and I know it's Rose and the mystery man. I peek my head around the door and signal for Rose to come up here. She waved to my Dad and points upstairs, telling him she'll be with him soon.
"I have nothing to wear!" I tell her, annoyed at myself. Rose looks at me wrapped in the robe my Dad have given me last night.
"Oh girl, let me go back to mine and bring some clothes back here. You can have some if you want." Before I can say anything she's gone, telling mystery man and my Dad she'll be back here in 10 minutes or whatever.I peer out of my window and see Rose running towards her house. She was next door to mine so I guessed she wouldn't take long. At least, I hoped so. I kind of want to meet this mystery man downstairs. And explore the town, of course.
Suddenly, she's back in my room hands full of different outfits and she begs me to try them on. We pull a few dresses over my head but none of them feel right until she picks up this adorable red day dress with small flower detailing. It was gorgeous. And matched the Italy aesthetic amazingly.
The dress fit beautifully. I couldn't believe I rocked this outfit. Usually I wore Jean shorts and just a small cami top. Basics. I know. I was never really that interested in fashion but maybe I should have. I would have much better dress sense if I did.
"You look great, Chiara!" Rose chirps with a smile plastered across her delicate skin. I smile back and tell her I love it. "We can buy lots more clothes for you today. Dresses like this. And other sorts too!" She continues.
With that, we walk down the wooden stairs and all eyes turn to me. I sigh knowing all the compliments are coming. I was never good at taking compliments but here we go anyways.
"Wow you look better than Rose in that dress Chi!" Mystery man says with a smirk.
Rose turned quickly, "Shut the fuck up Romeo!"Romeo. I liked that name.
