You and Todoroki walked next to each other, each of you covered in bandages, the stench of sweat and exhaustion filling the air. It was silent, each of you digesting what Mr. Aizawa had said before Recovery Girl set you free.

"One day, you four will be the ones this world relies on."

You'd had people tell you how powerful you were before, how they expected too see your name in news articles one day. But never, had someone believed that strongly that you would be someone the entire world would rely on. As you rounded the corner towards where the podiums were set up, the sound of someone struggling, growling and yelling at another rung through the air.

You and Todoroki glanced at each other before speeding up your pace slightly, well, as much as your exhausted bodies would allow, and freezing when you spotted the source of the sound. There, Bakugo was chained too a concrete pillar, a mussel clasped over his jaw and both his hands restrained in bulky, metal cuffs. His eyes were clamped shut as he struggled against the bindings, making the chains clank against each other.

"Bakugo," you mumbled, his narrowed, searing eyes flashing open and connecting with yours. He immediately froze at the sight of you and Todoroki, dropping his head down and avoiding your gaze.

"So...you're alive, huh," he muttered, his words muffled through the mussel as the people around you went completely silent.

"You think I'd die before crushing you?...Ya big dummy," you teased, trying to force your mouth into a smile. It was hard. Your body was still full of pain, and seeing one of your close friends in this state didn't make it any easier.

"Whatever...just...don't do that again...you hear? I'll kill you," he grumbled, glancing at you for a moment as you nodded your head.

"Excuse me, the ceremony is about to start. Could you two take your places?" a kind woman asked as you and Todoroki nodded, parting from each other as you made your way onto the podiums.

"Glad too see you're alright," Tokoyami nodded to you as you joined him, the two of you sharing the third place award since you couldn't fight to determine who would take the spot in the rankings.

"Eh, I will be anyways," you sighed, hearing Bakugo's chains clanking as the podium started too rise above ground. You looked over too see him struggling against the restraints yet again, pulling at the clasps on his wrists.

You heard the sound of a band playing, and fire works exploding in the sky as the late afternoon sun blinded your eyes. Around you, all of the first years had been gathered, many backing up at the sight of either you and Todoroki, or Bakugo's distraught state.

"He's acting like a feral animal," Tokoyami sighed, shaking his head at Bakugo who only reacted worse to the sound of the crowds cheering.

"You said it," you sighed, watching him attempt to lurch at Todoroki, who stood with a quiet expression on his face. It wasn't obvious to the crowds around you, but you and Tokoyami could see it clear as day. Both of them were hurting, one choosing not to express his pain, and the other showing it to the entire stadium in the only way he knew how; through anger.

However...you weren't entirely sure Bakugo was actually after Todoroki. Though he appeared to be lunging in that general direction, it didn't quite seem like his intentions were to attack the half and half boy. He just looked like he wanted out of his cuffs and mask.
