"Nice trick eh?"
A deep, questioning tone broke through the terror and shock circulating the group, each of their eyes flying up to spot a masked man wearing an orange trench coat perched elegantly in one of the trees.
"I took the lad you're talking about with my magic. A talent like his would be squandered were he cast as a hero. We'll bring him to the big stage where he can fully shine."
"Give him back!" Midoriya gritted, his face contoured with frustration and anger.
"Give him back? What an odd thing to say? Bakugo doesn't belong to anyone. He's his own person. Don't be so arrogant," the man sighed, shaking his head as he tossed a glossy marble up in the air.
"WE'LL STOP YOU!" Midoriya screamed as Shoto quickly took a few steps forwards, angling an explosive shot of ice towards the man in the mask.
"RIGHT NOW!"
"Why the aggression? We merely want to show him that there are options beyond the fanatical world of heroism that he's drowning in. It's important to choose a pathway that aligns with your core values, after all," he spoke in a calm manor, waving his cane around in the air like a baton.
"It's not just Bakugo. Tokoyami and Y/n are gone too," Shoji exclaimed, searching the area around the group in hopes of spotting one of your faces, but alas, coming up empty.
This man was something else. He'd taken three of UA's most promising first year students without a sound, apparently rendering the three of you powerless. What kind of quirk were the remaining five up against?
"You're monologuing because you think you've beat us. You're one to talk about being arrogant," Todoroki shot back to the man, a harsh glare pestering his features.
"An old habit of mine. I was once an entertainer you know. Taking Tokoyami and Y/n was a bit of...improve on my part," the man explained, quickly flashing up a second marble. "Our dear Blade Tooth. He's a dastardly, death row, devil whose last appeal was denied. When I saw the boy take him down so easily and violently, I decided he should join our troop. As for the girl, kind of tough to separate her from Bakugo, what with how tightly she clung to him for protection. I wouldn't want to separate the pair like that, it would be rude."
"YOU BASTARD! YOU CAN'T TAKE THEM!" Midoriya screamed, the anger underneath bubbling to the surface with every word the man spoke against his captured friends.
"Here, take this guy," Shoto breathed, tossing the unconscious boy over to Ururaka before charging the villain once more.
The second the boy left his arms, Shoto sent a massive attack of ice towards the magical villain the way he'd done at the sports festival. Unfortunately, the man evaded the attack without so much as breaking a sweat.
"Apologies, but slight of hand and escapology are my specials, not combat. I'm not foolish enough to fight hero candidates from UA," the man called out, aimlessly floating through the air as he pressed down on the mic within his ear. "Vanguard Action squad. Our show has officially come to a close. Meet me at the retrieval point in the next fives minutes for the final battle."
"He's going to take them. Our friends," Shoto seethed through gritted teeth.
"THEY CANT TAKE THEM!" Midoriya screamed, hardly able to move yet his determination was still stronger then anyone else.
