*Chapter 3*
Sasori agreed but now, I think I had just placed myself in a really awkward situation. Sasori was casually drinking from his canned juice while I fumbled nervously with mine. Both of us didn't say anything and I'm starting to regret my impromptu suggestion.
"You don't have to do this." Sasori finally spoke.
I turned to look at him. His expression remained neutral as he drank the last of his juice. "Do what?" I asked. For once, he turned to look at me. "Trying to be nice to me. People will only start saying bad things about you if they saw you with me."
I can't help but smiled at him. He really is a nice person. "I don't really care what people say and I'm not trying to be nice to you. I li-" I paused. Crap! I almost spilled the beans. "I-I just want to get to know you better." Sasori looked away and crushed the can in his hand before throwing it accurately into the bin a few metres away from us.
"Don't do it. Don't come near me. You'll only regret it if you know me too well." He murmured. He got off the bench and walked off.
"Sasori!" I called out to him but he just kept walking. I didn't know that having someone you like walk away from you could hurt so much.
"I really want to be by your side." I whispered to myself.
Classes finally ended. I stood up and stretched my aching muscles. "Kivi! Let's go home together." Aki said. "Oh! I want to join in!" Takahara grinned as Aki rolled her eyes. "You're not invited, Takahara." I giggled at them, they really looked like a cute couple when they argue. As they continued their mini debate, my eyes trailed along as Sasori left the classroom alone. I quickly turned to Aki and Takahara, "Sorry, Aki. I need to drop by somewhere. You guys go home without me, alright?" I left quickly after that.
I followed Sasori as he made his way out of school and Aki and Takahara were right. Sasori was staring intensely at some of the students, even when their parents weren't with them. I continued to follow him as he made his way to town. He stopped at the convenience store then to the stationery store then the Takoyaki stand.
Is this what Sasori does everyday?
As I peeked my head out from a corner, Sasori was eating the takoyaki beside the Takoyaki stand. Even the stand owner was glaring at Sasori. I frowned a little.
Can't they just leave him alone?
Sasori finally finished his takoyaki and left. I silently walked behind him as I stared at his red hair, almost getting myself lost in that beautiful color. All of a sudden, he stopped in his tracks and I jumped a little, desperately trying to find another corner to hide myself but there was no where to hide. He probably knew I was following him and I'm going to get caught red-handed. As he turned his head, my heart accelerated.
Sasori's eyes landed on an item inside a store and I silently let out a sigh of relieve. He stared at whatever it was for quite some time, he touched the glass gently as he looked intensely at the item. I studied the shop. Apparently, the shop sells antiques and vintage looking items but what was Sasori staring at?
Suddenly, the door of the shop opened with immense force and the store owner stomped out of the shop, glaring at the calm-looking Sasori. "Get away from my shop!" The owner shouted. I flinched from his loud voice and feared that he might do something to Sasori but Sasori just walked away quietly while passer-bys whispered to one another behind his back.
Ignoring everyone, I quickly followed him; hoping that I won't lose him in the crowd. I managed to walked past the store and saw what Sasori was looking at. A doll. Vintage but very pretty looking. Come to think of it, Sasori's grandma creates dolls and puppets. Does Sasori has an interest in them too?
We left town not long later and was now in a park.
What is Sasori doing here?
Sasori stopped again and I quickly ran to the nearest tree. In front of Sasori, a boy stood in front of him. He looked like he was about our age and it seems that he was not from our class. "What is it, Tomoe?" Sasori asked the boy. The boy, Tomoe, smiled widely. "Your grandma wants me to pass this to you." Tomoe handed a letter to Sasori.
"Ah. Thank you." Sasori took the letter and looked at the boy again. Tomoe threw his arms behind his head and smiled, "Well, I better go home now. Bye, Sasori." Tomoe waved at Sasori before jogging away. I smiled, Tomoe reminds me of Takahara except Tomoe might actually be Sasori's friend.
"How long are you going to follow me?" Sasori spoke suddenly. I yelped but continued to hide, hoping Sasori won't see me. I waited a few minutes before peeking my head out to look for Sasori but there was no sight of him. I got out of my hiding spot and frantically looked around.
"Oh no. I lost him."
I looked around but I couldn't find him. Just then, I realized I got another problem. I'm lost. I don't even know how to get back! I silently whimpered as I squatted and hugged my legs close to me. "Sasori." His name subconsciously slipped out of my mouth before I stood up abruptly and shouted at thin air, "I'm lost! Take responsibility, Sasori!"
As if on cue, I felt someone hugged me from behind. I yelped and turned my head to see who. It's Sasori! I felt myself blushed from ear to ear. "Sa-Sa-Sasori!" I stammered.
"What am I suppose to take responsibility of?" He whispered into my ear, which made me more nervous.
"I-I-"
"You're the one who followed me." He continued to whisper.
I closed my eyes as hard as I can, my heart was reaching it's limit.
"You're so warm, Kivi." Sasori hugged me tighter as he whispered my name for the first time.
"Sasori, p-please stop." I panted. For some reason, I'm suddenly very tired.
As much as I want to stay like this forever, Sasori willingly let me go. I stood where I was as I refused to let him see my face now.
"Why did you follow me?" He asked. "You know what misfortunes I could bring you. So, please don't come near me again." I heard his foot steps starting to sound further and further away. I turned around sharply and forced my eyes to focus.
He's walking away from me again?
I ran towards him and this time, it was my turn to hug him from behind. I felt his body stiffened in surprise. "I...I just can't leave you alone, Sasori. So please don't leave me alone." I cried.
I felt my feelings were getting desperate.
