"I choose her"

You were in complete shock. The wave of relief that you now felt was intense. She'd chosen you. Over everything, she'd actually chosen you.

"Pardon?" the Queen said, in utter shock that her sister had put love above everything.. something she herself could never do. "You heard me.. I choose Y/N because Lilibet, you may have your titles.. your 'crown'.. your perfect life" she said, waving her hands in expression as an eye roll followed. "But I.. I have something that you'll never have. I have someone who makes me feel alive.. who fills this hole.. this pit of gloom and despair that comes with being vice Queen as you may say"

Her words completely melted you. From the first time you laid eyes upon her.. from the very first time you comforted her or felt her soft, plump lips against your own - you knew that this was going to be something special. You proceeded to go back to Margaret's bedroom, pretending that you were non the wiser about the whole situation. You snuggled into her bed, buried under her sheets happy to see that they still smelled like her despite the fact you'd both been in America for a while.

Around half an hour after you'd left the hallway, you heard a door slam and a very noisy Margaret storming up the corridor. She slowed down as she got towards the bedroom door then carefully walked in. She smiled at you, weakly her eyes brimming with tears as she walked towards you. "Everything's going to be fine love I've sorted it" she said, calmly as she sat on the bed reaching over to you. You embraced her into your arms, running your fingers through her soft curls as she rested her head upon your shoulder. "What do you mean by sorted it Margot?"you said, clearly knowing the response but wanting to hear those words one more time to ensure that you weren't dreaming.

"Later on today, I'm doing a press conference about the whole ordeal and also that I will be stepping down from royal duties till further notice" she said. The pain in her voice broke you. It was the raw, sickening type that made you just want to hold her until everything was okay again. "I-I will no longer be referred to as Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret only as The Princess Margaret" she stuttered as her voice began to break. This was the second hardest thing you'd experienced whilst being at Buckingham Palace. The first being how broken Margot was during the first few months of her marriage. Now, seeing one of the things she loved most in the world being taken away from her.

For the duration of the morning, you held onto each other. She needed you. Possibly now more than ever. It was funny how you came to the Palace looking for work. How much you'd grown since the ending of your relationship with Ray and moving out of your small apartment. How you'd gone from cautiously having iced tea with the Princess of England who was beyond broken to giggling and discussing the rest of your lives whilst you cuddled up to each other. Now, the secret was out.

Later on that day, at approximately 2PM Princess Margaret Rose of England took to the stand and addressed the whole situation. "I, Princess Margaret of England have renounced the title of HRH and will be stepping down from royal duties till further notice". You knew how hard this was for her and were so proud of how well she was standing on the stage addressing such a serious matter but only hoping that you could be up there with her as a form of emotional support. "In light of recent events and the advice backing my decision to step down, I appoint my son David to take my place within the royal household when he is deemed old enough. I thank you all for your support during this time and wish you and your families all the love and happiness as the festive season approaches. Thankyou."

It was a truly beautiful speech despite the pain behind it. Her Majesty had requested that you and the Princess were to move into Kensington Palace where you were to have the happiness and love both of you so desperately craved. "I love you more than life itself Y/N your worth more than anything in this world to me my darling" Margot said, as you packed multiple cases and bags to be transported to Kensington. "You mean the world to me.. you always have and you always will" you smiled, as you left your case and gave her a small gentle kiss on the lips.

Once you were all ready, you looked back towards the room that had been your home for just over a year now. New adventures and new beginnings awaited you both and you couldn't be happier. It was you both against the world fighting for the happiness you both deserved. "Best be off my love" said Margot, who was stood in the door frame watching you from a distance smiling as she saw the life she'd always dreamed of forming in front of her.

It was finally time for you both to leave and head out to start the rest of your lives together. You could already picture the press swarming outside the gates of the Palace in light of the recent announcement and to your dismay, you were correct. You both paused as the palace doors began to open. "Ready my love?" Margot said, smiling with a mysterious tint in those dark pools or chocolate. "Always Ma'am" you grinned as Margot smirked back at you before  stepping outside the comfort of the palace walls to start the beginning of the rest of your lives together with the love of your life. Your soulmate.
