You laid, cuddling up to each other for about half an hour, your warm bodies intertwined without a care in the world. The dinner you had both been asked to attend was at 7pm unless told otherwise. You wanted nothing more than to stay in her arms, feeling her comfort, her love, her touch but you knew how important this dinner was to the monarchy, to your country, to even Margot herself.
"I'd love nothing more than to stay here with you however you do realise there's a dinner downstairs that needs attending by both of us" you laughed, moving a small curl from her face that had tumbled down her cheek. "I suppose your right" she said, smiling as she played with your hair until you were both disturbed by a sharp, sudden knock. You both froze in anticipation until they knocked again. "Your Royal Highness, may I come in?" "Just a moment" Margaret called, urging you into the bathroom then running back to her bed. It was quite amusing to see Princess Margaret Rose running round trying to hide you in the bathroom. This really was a moment you'd never forget.
"Come in" she called, and before you knew it, there were makeup artists, hair stylists, there were people entering the room that you had no knowledge of. "Compliments of the White House ma'am" said a fairly tall man in a dark suit. He then proceeded to exit as chaos began to unfold. Margaret was clearly surprised but not at all bothered and quite enjoyed having a bundle of talented people at her beck and call. With a cigarette in one hand whilst a talented italian makeup artist painted her face - she was very much at ease.
You on the other hand were quite literally panicking. You barely had anything on and had no clue how you were going to get out. Although the bathroom you now found yourself in was lovely, you yourself needed to get ready and into your room before anyone noticed you were there. The room you found yourself in was fairly modern. It had a large walk in shower on one end and a toilet on sink at the other. It was relatively normal not as extravagant or as luxurious as the ones at Buckingham Palace.
The cases that you packed whilst at Buckingham Palace had conveniently been placed in a room conjoined with the bathroom. It unfortunately contained only the Princess's belongings as yours had been placed in the other room. You opened the case to discover the outfit that Princess Margaret was suppose to wear to the dinner but you had no other option. You slipped on the bright pink gown as it flowed down to the floor. The Princess was quite petite, of only 5"2 so the dress didn't fit exactly how you'd like it but it'd make do. The plan you'd conjured was to blend in with the artists assisting the Princess however, given the current circumstances relating to the outfit of choice it wasn't going to be easy.
You cautiously opened the door and stepped inside. Margaret bursted out in laughter, trying to contain herself but failing to do so at the sight of you in her clothes as you slipped out of the door unnoticed. You managed to reach your bedroom and immediately shut the door behind you as soon as you did so. This whole affair at the White House was so important to the Princess and her family so you knew that you needed to look your best for that matter. You started with the bundle of hair the top of your head secured with a grip. It cascaded down your shoulders as you messed around trying to position it in some sort of way. You eventually decided to tie the frontal pieces of your hair and let your curls flow down your back. Makeup was something you didn't have the pleasure of being gifted at however you'd picked up a few tricks from the Princess whilst being at Buckingham Palace.
You started by doing a brown toned look followed by dark black eyeliner. 'Fake eyelashes' had also recently become a thing according to Margot, who'd given you a pair of hers for the evening. You had no idea how to put them on for it was quite a faff attaching them to your own lashes however you get there eventually. Next, was a subtle soft blush and a mocha shade lipstick with a creamy finish. Feeling a sense of fulfillment as you looked back at your reflection, you realised you were still in the Princess' outfit and therefore, needed to change into your own.
You'd chosen an emerald dress that flowed past your knees but cinched at your waist. It was a classy but elegant look one you'd know the Princess would approve of.
Eventually you were ready and hung the Princess' outfit on a hanger and proceeded to head towards her room. You knocked on the door, having to remember your position due to who was inside and entered as soon as you heard Margot respond. She radiated with brilliance. Her hair held in a voluminous up do as she awaited in a silk gown. "About time, Y/N" she raised her brows as the stylist placed the final pin into her hair. "Sorry ma'am" you said, playing along with this little game Margot was leading. One of the artists proceeded to select a piece of jewelry forever however, Margaret being Margaret decided otherwise. "Leave us" she snapped. "There's only one person I trust with my diamonds and that's Lady Y/N". You beamed with pride as the stylist left the room.
"My my darling you look amazing" she smiled, biting her lip as her eyes looked downwards then rose up admiring you. "Green is really your colour although I do prefer seeing you with nothing on" she giggled. You started blushing as she spoke. "Oh please darling anyway I've brought this back" you said, referring to the pink gown you'd borrowed to leave the room earlier. "Ah perfect" she said, taking it out of your hands. "It did make me giggle seeing you run out of the room like that Y/N" "I could say the same my love, it's not everyday you see Princess Margaret of England running round the bedroom is it?" you said, quite amused. "Oh give over and help me with the back of this bloody thing" she said, referring to her dress.
You did as she asked then reached into the case containing the jewellery and pulled out the items you'd selected prior to the trip. A Cartier diamond rose brooch and the diamond necklace which you picked from the black velvet case. You fitted it around her neck and fastened the clasp. Then, you pulled a pricey tiara from a case. "Perfect" said the Princess, as you cautiously placed it onto her head, being careful not to disrupt the work of the stylist. She sprayed her signature Volupte fragrance then you were both ready. Ready for whatever this dinner entailed no matter how important.
