I eventually fell asleep after hours of my tummy twisting and turning and my mind overthinking the limited possibilities to resolve the situation. I suddenly heard a faint knock at the door. My eyes were still stinging from the salty tears that had fallen down my cheeks. I checked my small, teal clock which read '2AM'. "Strange" I thought to myself as I slipped into a silky dressing gown and placed some cream coloured slippers on my feet before getting out of bed.

I opened the door and to my surprise, Margaret was stood there shivering in a dressing gown similar to mine with extravagant patterns and designs on. As soon as I looked into the pools of chocolate, I knew exactly what she needed. I invited her inside to which she smiled and walked over towards my bed and sat down. I closed the door quietly behind me, fluffed up my hair to try look somewhat presentable then headed over and carefully sat on the bed. Princess Margaret then proceeded to walk over to a large cabinet on the far left corner of the room which before this, I hadn't noticed was there even after the countless nights I'd stayed in the palace. Inside the cabinet, there were two shelves.

On the top shelf, there was a variety of different liquors and spirits.. bourbons, whiskeys, vodkas. The bottom shelf held a selection of glasses. "Care for a drink" she smiled, selecting a 1846 Scottish branded bourbon.. I wasn't sure of the name or how she'd gone from such the conversation we had earlier to the mood she was in now but nevertheless, I didn't care as long as she was okay. "Margot" I laughed. "Its so late"
"Never too late to start drinking darling" she grinned, selecting two small glasses from the bottom shelf and sat on the bed. She passed over the bottle which I took, smiled and poured a small amount into the glass that she raised and then poured a dribble into mine. "Oh come on Y/N" she giggles and grabs the bottle out of my head continuously pouring until the glass was at least half full. "Margaret darling, I have work in the morning" I said, shaking my head. "and.. DARLING" she said, raising her eyebrow "who do you work for" she grinned. I didn't respond. "Me" she smiled. "and darling, as your boss I demand you join me for a proper drink."

"As you wish" I laughed and took a sip from the glass she handed me. "I'm here to thank you" she said, looking me directly in the eye. "What for?" I replied. "Earlier and also, for your privacy about the situation - I mean, a lot of girls your age would've gone running to my sister the first chance they got trying to get closer to her as a means to an end " "Oh, I would never-" I stammered. "And that is why I like you Y/N your different to everyone else" She smiled. She placed her empty glass on the table next to her and snuggled under my duvet. Within two minutes, she was asleep.

I smiled and joined her as I pulled the covers up to my chest and closed my eyes. A floral scent drifted over with hints of mandarin and jasmin. "Volupte" I thought to my self, recognising the perfume. Margaret looked at peace as she slept which made me smile. I suddenly felt a hand form around the bottom of my waist to which I felt a great sense of comfort and happiness and fell straight asleep.
I couldn't help it but I was getting more and more attached to Margaret everyday.. her smile, her eyes, her laugh. I knew what was happening. I was falling in love with her.
