28 - Harper Finds Out

Matt and his family had informed the Russos that Jack found out about them being wizards. They were shocked and surprised at first, but came to terms that a mortal found out about the wizarding world.

They became more comfortable performing magic in front of Jack. They knew that Jack would never betray their trust and expose them as wizards and the world of magic and creatures mortals believed to be make believe. 

"Jack," she greeted Jack. "Matthew."

"Hey."

"Harper," Matt said in the same tone as Harper.

"Are you making fun of me?" Harper demanded from Matt.

"I don't know, you tell me," he said.

"I'm watching you, Taylor," she said.

Matt and Jack groaned as they followed Harper into the Waverly Sub Station.

"Harper!" Jack whined. 

"What did I ever do to you?" Matt asked.

"One moment, you liked Matt, then the moment Alex showed interest in him, he's suddenly the devil," Jack said.

"He could be," Harper whispered to Jack, but her whisper was loud enough for Matt to hear.

"I'm not the devil!" Matt said.

Her expression changed to horror when she realized that Matt heard her.

"W - well, y - you - you could be!" she stuttered.

Matt rolled his eyes.

The three headed to the counter, where Alex was flipping through a magazine.

She glanced up and smiled.

"Hi, guys," she greeted them.

"Hey, Alex," Matt said.

"Hey!" Jack smiled.

"Hey, Alex," Harper said, cheerful to see her best friend.

"Oh! Matt, can you get your dad to fix Max's bathroom?" Alex asked. "Max messed up."

"Again?" Matt raised his eyebrows. 

"Yeah," Alex nodded.

"You know, my dad will start charging you guys," Matt informed her. "The amount of times Max is messing up his bathroom is unbelievable."

"I know," she said. "Tell that to Max."

Matt took a deep breath.

"I'll tell my dad," he said.

"Thank you," she said, smiling.

She extended her arms and hugged him and kissed him on the cheek.

"Oh, hey, Matt and Jack," Jerry said, coming down the stairs. "Harper."

"Hi, sir," Matt and Jack responded.

"Hello, Mr. Russo," Harper politely greeted Alex's father.

"Oh, hey, Matt, can you tell your dad -"

"Oh, Dad, I already told him," Alex cut her father off.

"Really?"

Alex nodded.

"My dad is going to start charging you though," Matt informed him.

Matt saw the hesitation in Jerry's eyes. He knew what Jerry was like and knew the moment he mentioned that his father will start charging him, he might back out on getting Max's bathroom fixed.
