Basketball practice ended and it was time to go home. Matthew Taylor, the star of the basketball team, and his best friend, Jack Anderson, finished changing and reentered the gym.

Matt Taylor is a fairly attractive teenager. He is quite popular among his peers. Not only is he known as the star basketball player, but he is a nice person. He often finds himself hanging out with everyone.

Jack Anderson, like Matt, is one of the best basketball players Tribecca Prep has ever seen. Jack is not only known as Matt Taylor's best friend, but is also known for being nice towards everyone and occasional, fun parties.

"Hey, Rosie," Matt called to his eleven year old sister, Rose.

It has become a routine for Rose Taylor to come to the gym and either read a book or watch the practice while she waited for Matt to finish basketball practice so they can head home together.

Most days, like today, Jack would join them and work on homework with Matt.

"Yeah?" Rose said, looking up from her book.

"Ready to go home?" Matt asked.

"Yes!" Rose said.

Rose placed her bookmark in between the pages and picked up her backpack. She walked over to Matt and Jack and the three began to head home.

"How was school today, Rosie?" Jack asked the eleven year old.

"Good," Rose said, looking up at Jack.

"Didn't you mention something about a test yesterday?" Matt asked.

"Oh, yeah," Rose said. "It was so easy. I'm pretty sure I passed the test."

Matt smiled.

Matt knew how Rose felt tests. She often complained about how easy the tests are and wished the tests were more challenging.

"Just wait until you're in high school, Rose," Jack said. "Hopefully, those tests are up to your standards."

"I've seen what you guys are doing for your classes," Rose said as they walked out of school. "It looks challenging enough for me."

"I'm sure it is," Jack smiled.

"You should've seen her last night," Matt said. "She was looking at what I was doing and corrected me."

Jack raised his eyebrows.

"What?" Jack asked, beginning to laugh.

"Yeah," Matt said, smiling.

"What? I was curious to see what you guys were doing in class," Rose shrugged. "And I looked at the textbook and looked at Matt did and saw that he made a mistake."

"Dang, Rose," Jack said, impressed. "Nice job."

She smiled, proudly.

The trio got to the Taylor household. They lived right about Matt and Rose's father's mechanic store.

They went through the backdoor instead of entering the apartment from the mechanic store.

Matt and Rose's father, Harrison Taylor, opened a mechanic store two years before Matt was born. Over time, the mechanic store became quite successful and Jack was able to hire some help. Matt and Jack occasionally help with fixing the cars and get paid for their help.

Matt and Jack spend most of their weekends and summers helping out at mechanic, wanting to make extra cash for college and their personal spending.

"Alright," Matt said, dropping his backpack by the dining table. "I'm going to the Waverly Substation to get sandwiches. Do you guys want anything?"
