40 - Recovery

Several days have passed and Matt finally woke up. He found himself in a hospital bed, but it wasn't an ordinary hospital room. It took him a moment to recognize that it was a hospital room in the wizard world.

He groaned.

"Oh, my god, Matt!" he heard his sister said.

"Rose?" Matt said, weakly.

The next thing Matt knew, Rose was hugging him.

"Hey," Matt said. 

"Are you okay?" Rose said, letting go of Matt.

Her face was red and puffy.

"I'm - I'm okay," he said. "Were you crying?"

He, weakly, wiped away the tear that was sliding down her face.

"Thank God you're okay," Rose said, hugging him again.

Matt smiled, weakly.

The door opened and Rose let go.

"Oh, god, Matt," Harrison said, relieved.

He was holding two cups of coffee and a bag with food.

He quickly placed the coffee and bag down and rushed over to his son, hugging him.

"Are you okay?" Harrison asked.

"I'm - I'm fine," he said. "What - what happened?"

"What do you remember?" Harrison asked.

"The last thing I remember was something like a dog or a wolf or something attack me," Matt said.

Harrison and Rose glanced at each other.

"What attacked me?" Matt asked.

"Well, it wasn't a dog," Harrison said, "or a wolf."

"But you are close," Rose said.

"Then what was it?" Matt asked.

"It was a werewolf," Harrison said. 

"A werewolf?" Matt repeated.

Harrison nodded. 

"And it was the full moon," Harrison said.

Matt took a deep breath.

"It was the full moon," Matt repeated, "and a werewolf attacked me. That means..."

"He turned you into a werewolf," Rose finished, painfully."

"So - so, that means - that means I'm - I'm a werewolf now?" Matt said.

"I'm sorry," Harrison said.

"It wasn't your fault," Matt said.

"No," Harrison shook his head. "It was my fault."

"How is it your fault?" Matt said. "You didn't do anything."
