Matt and Alex walked out of a restaurant on a Friday night.

"I can't believe Jack is leaving," Alex said as they walked out.

"I know," Matt said, sadly.

Jack had told all of his friends that he got accepted to go to school on the S.S Tipton. They all were disappointed, but supportive. Some friends were mad he was leaving.

"Stop him!" Alex said.

"What?" Matt asked, looking at Alex, confused.

"Stop Jack from going on that ship," Alex said. "You're his best friend. He won't go if you tell him not to."

"I can't," Matt said.

"Why not?"

"Because," Matt said, "he really wants to go and I don't want to deprive him of going. Alex, none of us want him to leave, but he really wants to go."

Alex sighed. "I know," she said. "I just wish he wouldn't leave."

"Me too," Matt said. "I can't believe my best friend is leaving."

Alex wrapped her arm around his waist as they walked back to Waverly Place.

"When is he leaving?"

"Three weeks," Matt said. "We've made plans to hang out together as much as we can before he leaves."

"Hey, didn't you and your family go on the S.S Tipton that one time?" Matt said, remembering Justin winning some competition that resulted in him, Alex and their mailing boarding the ship.

"Oh, yeah, we did," Alex remembered.

"What was it like?" Matt asked.

"Oh, it was great," Alex said. "Jack will love living on that ship."

Based on how Justin was talking about the ship, it sounded like a great cruise ship.

"And it sucks that Jack can afford the tuition," Alex said.

Matt didn't say anything.

Matt took a deep breath when he saw...

"Vanessa?" he said.

Vanessa turned around and smiled.

"Oh, hey, guys," Vanessa said.

"Hi, Vanessa," Alex said smiling.

"It's been a while," Vanessa said.

Matt laughed nervously.

"I heard that Jack was leaving in a few weeks," Vanessa said.

"Oh, yeah, he is," Matt said, his smile faltered for a moment. "I'm happy for him."

They got to Waverly Street. Matt and Alex entered the Waverly Substation to see Justin and Juliet sitting at the counter, talking.

"Hey," Matt greeted them.

"Hey, Matt," Justin said.

"Hi, Matt," Juliet smiled. "I heard Jack was leaving in a few weeks."

"Oh, yeah," Matt said.

"He seems very excited," Juliet said.

"Oh, yeah, he is," Matt smiled.

"I wish he wouldn't go," Justin said, sadly. "I'll miss him."

"Yeah, me too," Matt said. "I, huh, I'll see you guys later. I gotta go."

"Are you okay, Matt?" Alex asked.

"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine," Matt said.

He quickly left the Waverly Substation. He headed over to Jack's house.

"Hey, Matt," Jack said, smiling when he came over.

"Hey," Matt said.

"I'm so happy that you're here," Jack smiled.

"Really?"

"Yeah?"

"You know how I'm leaving?"

Matt groaned.

"What?" Jack asked, his smile dropped. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Matt said, quickly. "It's nothing."

"Matt, what is it?" Jack said. "I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything."

"I know, I know," Matt said, "but..."

"But?" Jack raised any eyebrow.

Matt sighed.

"I just wish you didn't have to go," Matt said.

"Oh," Jack said, his expression changing completely.

"I'm sorry," Matt said. "Don't get my wrong, Jack, I'm happy for you, but I just don't want to say goodbye."

"Who said anything about goodbyes?" Jack asked. "We're going to see each other during the breaks."

Matt licked his lip.

"I'm not gonna go if you don't -" Jack started.

"No!" Matt said. "Go!"

"But you -"

"I know," Matt said, "but this is something you wanna do. From what Justin and Alex told me about the S.S Tipton, it's great. You're going to love it."

"Are you sure, Matt?" Jack asked.

"I'm sure," Matt smiled at Jack, reassuringly. "You'll do great there."

Jack smiled.

"What were you going to tell me?" Matt reminded Jack.

"Oh, right!" Jack remembered.
