in other news, though, i started playing neopets again and i'm trying to get that art contest trophy/the rare item that comes with winning the contests, so i've started drawing illusen the faerie and so far it's... actually really great?

i'm terrified of doing anything to the hair now though, lol. that said, this piece has finally taught me an effective way to render faces. i've tried applying the method to another piece and it works! trying to figure out a "style" has been hard, but it turns out it's easier when i just do what feels naturally and let my style define itself over time.
