In which I showcase and scream about my art. I've been the art kid since I could hold hold a pencil, so be prepared for lots of ramblings and the occasional journal entry/essay thing that doesn't even include a picture about my artistic journey thus...
well. the pandemic has been hitting hard, ngl. i won't even get into my broken air conditioner in the middle of summer, or the youtuber i've been a fan of for like ten years that got outed as a child groomer, or how awful my retail job is in the middle of, you know, a global crisis. i'll just focus on what little i've managed to get done!
i admittedly hit a wall. i have so many wips, and i'll open one, draw like three lines, then switch to a different drawing or reward myself for working by playing minecraft for six hours. then my styluses broke! i had to order more anyway, so i decided to take the plunge and try out an apple pencil. i don't have a pro, so i'm stuck with gen 1, but even that has pressure sensitivity! it's really hard to get used to, but i can see the possibilities already, and it does feel pretty natural to use.
first, let's check out my latest ko-fi drawing! this request for a victini came from my discord server like a month ago. this was also pre-pencil.

the ears were surprisingly hard to deal with, but i think it came out cute! i'm gonna have to pick a different brush for these eventually, though. the idea is that they're supposed to be quick, but the procreate marker brush layers color in such a way that i have to make a new layer every time i wanna lay down a new line, or else the colors seem to multiply when the lines touch. i imagine it's supposed to mimic a real marker, but it makes using it for lineart a pretty tedious process.
now onto the pencil stuff! i've been using this wip to test out my latest gizmo.

i thought this drawing would be pretty simple, and i was wrong. i'm surprisingly bad with colors and had to go studying for a while (colors still need some adjusting too), and i still need to add more flowers, and i'm not yet sure how i will color or not color the lines and how to shade and highlight this thing. i do wanna keep it simple and slap a noise filter on top (inspired by vacuum-chan's work here). it's supposed to be hanahaki, so i also need to add some scarring or something to indicate that the flowers aren't just decorative. maybe a bandage on his face?
(in case you couldn't tell, it is my son keith)
i hope to finish keith soon! and i do still have slots for ko-fi requests, so just join the server if you'd like to ask for something.
