I'm one of those people who loves video games, but can't play as many as I want to. For this reason, YouTube let's plays are often a staple of mine. I go through phases with them. Lately my attention span is so short that I can't pay attention to a screen for too long, so my gamers of choice at the moment are the Game Grumps because they made for hilarious background noise.Cryaotic is still more or less my favorite youtuber, but I haven't had the patience for his Let's Plays for a long time now. He's not an in-your-face humor kind of guy. Generally I don't watch many solo Let's Plays at all anymore, so I watch the Grumps, Draxr's videos of highlights from Late Night with Cry and Russ, and constantly rewatch Team Hatoful stuff. I also like NicoB because he acts like multiple people. (I also love rewatching Cry's Let's Play of Dandelion with Dodger.)
Since Youtubers sort of feel like your friends, I've felt a very personal attatchment to them over the years, and so I have some art. I some day want to learn to animate and plan to do loads of animations for them, but until then I'll stick with the occasional fanart.
Minx in Bloody Trapland
Minx has a smaller fanbase than some of her more famous friends, so she doesn't have access to the kind of awesome art that they do for thumbnails. She mentioned on her tumblr blog that she would need lots of thumbnails for Bloody Trapland, and I thought, great! I could get to be one of her thumbnails! I unfortunately realized AFTER I WAS DONE that I had used the wrong dimensions and my art couldn't possibly work. Fuck my life.
I am IB, Hear Me Roar
Cryaotic's playthrough of IB was literally what introduced me to Let's Plays, not just his channel. I will always have a special fondness for it. His combination of weird, random humor and emotional investment in the game won me over quickly (his reaction to the ending tho). It also introduced me to the joys of RPGmaker horror games. I drew this comic just because I wanted to practice comics, and chose this moment because it always made me giggle.
Projects That Never Were
As has always been the case with me, I often start huge projects that I never finish because I can never do anything halfway. Arin of Game Grumps apparently has a similar problem and described it quite well! "I'll, like, figure out how to fold a piece of paper to make a pretty block or something, and then I'll be like 'I'm gonna build a life-sized replica of the Eiffel Tower!' And then I'll do, like, four blocks and get impatient and be done with it."
Cryaotic Animation (A Random Screenshot)
I wanted to do a big animation clips video of my various favorite moments from the IB playthrough, and instead failed to finish even one of the clips. Part of it is how severely limited I was because I only have an iPad and no sound editing software, meaning I had to record the audio directly into the animation app. In the end I finished maybe ten total seconds of animation, very undetailed at that (particularly because I was picky about proper mouth flaps), and it took me a goddamn week. I would post the clip here if I could, but it's never been posted to YouTube.
The moment in particular: Garry, Mary, and Cry-IB walk into a room with a painting of a rabbit, and Garry remarks that it's disturbing. Cry-IB lectures him for not liking rabbits, and he and Mary think it's cute. When Garry says he still finds it unsettling, Cry-IB responds "well you're the kinda guy who fuckin' buys, like, frickin' worn-out shirts and shit. BUY SOME NORMAL CLOTHES, AND YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE BUNNIES!"NicoB Banner
I had planned on entering NicoB's YouTube banner contest, but planning and my lack of a proper stylus and being sick and much more prevented me from finishing it even though I got several characters' drawings done. They were all going to be sitting on a couch together, and the sides of the image would reveal some extra characters standing around and posters on the wall and other such things referencing other playthroughs. I may salvage Miles and Phoenix and Godot for a regular Ace Attorney fanart, or I may someday complete the banner just to see what it would have looked like.
