"Recover, restore, revive," I said to my two younger siblings sitting in front of me, "say it again."
"Recover, restore, revive," they say in unison.
"Bee, why do we have to say that everyday? It's so boring" Maya whined. She's too young so she doesn't understand how it helps us.
"I've been over this multiple times. It helps calm your inner wolf." I look at my watch and groan. "Now go get ready for school."
Maya smiled and ran up the stairs. I stood up and helped my brother up. "I'm not a wolf so why do I have to say it?" Logan is a young warlock who was still learning about magic.
"Not you too," I walked to the kitchen. "You are learning how to control your powers. Saying those three things could help you focus your magic."
He rolled his eyes and walked upstairs. "At least I have normal magic," he mumbles as he goes.
"I heard that you rat."
He snickered and shut his door. I started making their lunch. I cut the crust off Maya's ham sandwich, put apple slices and a cookie in her box. I moved on to Logan's bag putting his sandwich, chips, and a waterbottle in. I added other snacks in both boxes as well.
Maya came toppling down the stairs in the outfit I picked out for her. I handed the My Little Ponies lunch box to her. She tried shoving it in her backpack but eventually handed it to me to set it in.
There was a knock on the door. Maya jumped up and down "It's Rafael! It's Rafael!"
"It's open!"
My curly haired friend swung the door open. Maya ran up to him and gave him a big hug. "Hey there Maya," he said chuckling.
Logan slouchingly came down the stairs ready for school. He looked at Rafael out of the corner of his eye. He didn't bother saying hello since he's here almost everyday. I gave my brother his black lunch bag and he took it with small smile.
I walked Logan and Maya out the door. "Maya you forgot this" I knelt down in front of her "you can't ever forget this." I put the family necklace over her neck. It was long on her and had a silver Raven hung by it's wings. "It helps you keep control remember?"
She nodded her head. "Recover, restore, revive."
"Exactly. Now listen to Logan. He'll pick you up from school today."
They walked off to the bus stop.
I shut the door and looked at Rafael who was devouring a bowl of Lucky Charms.
"I didn't get any marshmallows!"
"Maya eats them all before anyone else can."
"That little runt."
Raf and I were walking down the hallways of school. People were looking at Rafael... a lot, mostly the girls. "Why's everyone staring at you?"
He looked at me and laughed.
"Why are you laughing? What am I missing?"
"Lacrosse game, I'm the teams defender. It's tonight." He said in a tone telling me I should've known.
"Well I can't know everything can I?" I teased. I did however know he was on the team, just not the position. I don't really get into sports but I like when our team wins.
He rolled his eyes. "You barely know anything about this lizard man running around this town." I took him by the earlobe and pulled him aside. "Ow. Ow. Ow! Let go!" He harshly whispered.
