He slowly brings the gun to my chest.

"Do you want to count down or should I."

My breath staggers. Tears are the on brink of my eyes. I look at my friends who were all on the ground, dead.

"You better hold those tears in."

He starts laughing at me. The gun is now right next to my heart.

"1...2...3..."

Bang.

I wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. My heart was racing. I was sweating mostly around my face.

I groan as I kick my blankets off. I went to the bathroom to wash my face.

I get there and study the dark circles under my eyes. I also have a bad case of bed hair.

My nightmares started ever since the night in the station. Matt kills me every time and I'm still not used to it. I constantly wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning and can't go back to bed. I don't remember the last time I had a full night of sleep.

I wash my face with cold water. I have no other activities to do because I've already deep cleaned the house, packed Maya and Logan's lunch, and did all my homework with two hours of studying. I walk to the kitchen taking my time. Looking through the cabinets I found a box of popcorn.

While the popcorn was microwaving I went out to check the mail. It was 4:37 am. It took a second before I realized it wasn't the middle of the night. I was in my pajamas which was a tshirt and long pants. It was way colder than I estimated. I was barefoot and skipping a couple feet to the mailbox. If anyone was watching me, which would be creepy, they probably thought I was losing it.

I grabbed the mail and ran so fast back to my house. I closed the door with my hip so I could read the letters.

There was one from my parents. Money. They said they're adding more money to our account. I don't even care how much they give us anymore, they were never here. They never hung Maya's artwork up on the fridge or cheered Logan on at his football games. They can send millions of dollars but they will always miss out on the memories.

The lights start to flicker uncontrollably. The letter floats up out of my hand and starts burning. The flames are contained. The red color was lighting up the room while the lights continued to flicker.

There was a knock at the door.

The letter drops and fire goes out. The lights stop flickering and stay on.

Did I do that?

There was another knock at the door. I swallowed the lump in my throat.

I slowly walked to the door, who was awake at almost five in the morning? I slowly opened the door and Isaac, Boyd, and Derek were standing there sweating.

"Hello?"

"Is your house," Isaac took a deep breath, smelling the air, "on fire?"

"No."

"I swore I saw flames," Boyd countered.

"Nope, no flames here."

Derek raised his eyebrows. "Why are you up so early?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Why are you up so early?"

"We're jogging." Isaac said still out of breath, "you still haven't answered the question."

The smell of fresh popcorn was filling my house. "Hungry!" Why did I yell? That makes me even more suspicious. Shit. "I was hungry so I made popcorn. Yeah."

Boyd took a sighed then tilted his head at me. "Why does it smell like smoke then?"

"Why are you guys so nosy?" I say closing the front door a bit more.

Derek nodded his head at Boyd. "Yeah, no it definitely smells like fire. Is Maya or Logan awake?"

"Who are they?" Boyd and Isaac asked at the same time.

"Her siblings. I can't believe they would be up at this hour."

"They're not up and there's no fire so if you guys could get going maybe I can get some more sleep."

"What's that on your cheek." Isaac points at my face.

I wiped my cheek not knowing exactly where I was trying to wipe at. I check my hand and it was ash. Fuck.

"Phoebe?"

They were staring into my house. The door must've swung open while I was wiping my face.

I looked at their line of view, they were staring at more than half of a letter and a small pile of ashes. Boyd pushed past me and knelt over the pile.

"From John Raven," he read.

Derek and Isaac strolled on in after he read that.

I snatch the letter from Boyd's hand. He looked around the house.

"There's nothing here that could start the fire."

I laugh. "What are you? A wolf version of Sherlock Holmes?"

Boyd rolled his eyes. "Anyways, you must've started it with your magic. The question is, why did you start it?"

I heard crunching. I turned and Isaac was eating my popcorn. I tilted my head. He winked and threw a piece into his mouth.

I faked a smile. "Now that you've invaded my home and ate my food, I think you should leave."

"Why did you start the fire." Derek said repeating Boyd's question.

"Please leave." I said in a deeper more confident tone. The lights flicker once or twice.

The room seemed quieter, Isaac even stopped eating.

"Your heartbeat is skyrocketing." Derek observed.

"No? Really? Maybe because I'm considering beating all of you to a pulp."

I was breathing harder, angrier by the second.

The lights began to flicker more. There was a ringing in my ears. The room was starting to become blurry.

"Phoebe?!" I heard in the distance.

I close my eyes and cover my ears trying to stop the ringing. There was a voice in my head now.

"Monster," it kept repeating. It was Matt, he kept calling me a monster.

"No! No I'm not!" I was yelling back at him still covering my ears. Matt's dead. I shouldn't be hearing his voice.

"Phoebe! Phoebe!" Someone was shaking my shoulders.

I open my eyes. My heart rate started slowing and my breathing was steady. Derek, Isaac, and Boyd were all staring at me.

"Phoebe?"

I whipped my head around to see Logan and Maya on the stairs looking at me with fear in their eyes. My heart drops to the pit of my stomach.

"I'll be up in a minute, go back to bed," I soothed. I crossed my arms as they walked up the stairs and I heard their bedroom doors shut. I looked back at the boys. "Can you guys please leave now?" My voice cracked.

Isaac pulled me into a hug. My arms were still crossed and didn't come undone. I felt like crying but Victoria told me that apologies make you weak, she must think the same of crying.

"I need you guys to go, I don't want to hurt anybody, thank you for checking in on me though."

Isaac let go of me, his smile was sympathetic. "We'll go, we'll see you at school."

Boyd walked out first, then Derek, then Isaac who shut the door.

I sighed.

I'm going crazy.

He's right.

I am a monster.

Short chapter I know, I know. But it's to explain what Phoebe's going through.
