"What the hell is he doing here?" Grey asked his father, his voice dripped with disbelief as he shot a disdainful look at his brother, his brows furrowing in a mix of confusion.
"Well, that's rather rude. I thought you'd be happy to see me." his brother retorted with a smug smirk, seemingly unperturbed by the situation.
"Don't start you two, not in front of our guest." Christian interjected, a hint of weariness in his voice as he gestured towards the girl, unmoving in the jail cell they use for unexpected rogues. "Dad -" Grey began to protest, but his father's stern gaze silenced him before he could continue. "Don't you start with me. You hid the fact that she is your mate. A human mate. You know we don't tolerate humans." Christian's tone was firm, his disappointment palpable as he addressed Grey's hidden secret. Grey's eyes lowered in shame, and he mumbled, his voice barely audible, "How did you know?"
"I was on my way to talk to you when I heard you talking about her in your office with Connor, Kai, and Trainer." his father revealed. "You were eavesdropping?" Grey's incredulous tone hung in the air, but before he could further react, his father cut him off.
"Well, if I hadn't, I don't think you would have told me anyway, would you?" Christian's retort was laced with a mixture of exasperation.
"Why is she here then?" Grey asked the million dollar question as his gaze shifted towards the slumped figure. The other brother seized the opportunity to intervene, turning to their father. "Pops, why don't I take it from here?" Christian glanced between his two sons, his expression a complex mix of resignation and apprehension. He nodded, allowing the other brother to continue.
"Well, you see, our dad here and I made a deal." the brother began to explain, his tone surprisingly composed. "I would go to your school, find your damsel, which let me tell you wasn't that difficult. Then I compelled her to read a note the next school day that I had put. I also compelled her to meet me at the written address where I was waiting. When she arrived, she got in the car without a word, I drugged her, and now here we are." he concluded, a disturbing amusement dancing in his eyes. Grey's disbelief was evident, his skepticism etched into the lines of his face. "And what was my father going to do for you in return?" he demanded, his voice a mixture of curiosity, knowing his brother well.
