After their shopping spree, Scarlett received a summons from her mate to join him in his office.
She knocked on the door. "You called for me?"
"Yes, sit down." Greyson replied, motioning to the chair across from him. "I've been thinking we should have a dinner party so you can meet the pack. Eventually, we can hold the ceremony that was supposed to happen yesterday." He paused, his expression serious. "The difference is that there will also be the crowning of the Luna."
She studied his face, her features remaining still. He quickly added, "Not unless you feel you're not ready or anything."
"Um, I guess. I just have a few questions."
"Shoot."
"When can I go back to school? When do I get to tell my mother all of this? Is she ever coming here, or am I ever going to see her again? What the hell is a Luna? What is she supposed to do? And finally, what's happening between us? Why am I feeling literal sparks?"
Greyson stared at her for a moment, taken aback by her barrage of questions. For her sake, he decided to answer them. "I get it. You have a lot of questions, so I'm going to do my best to answer them, okay?" He reassured, as she nodded, agreeing with him. "You can go back to school whenever you want. We can compel your teachers to think you never missed a class if you want. You can tell your family once everything settles down. Don't worry about that.
Now, an Alpha creates the rules for the pack and makes sure they are enforced. They act only for the good of the pack. A Luna is an Alpha's mate and is his equal. And about those sparks... well, that's normal for us. We're meant to be together; the Moon Goddess decided that. I can give you a book my grandmother wrote about werewolves. It has everything you want to know."
Scarlett felt a bit better after his answers. Maybe she should give this life a try; after all, she wasn't dead yet. "Yes."
Greyson scrunched his eyebrows at her bluntness. "What?"
"Yes, I'll do the ceremony."
He smiled ear to ear, disbelief and joy lighting up his face. "Okay. Let the ceremony begin!"
...
After days of preparation by the pack, the day of the ceremony had finally arrived. Everyone was seated in their designated spots, chatting excitedly in their fancy attire.
Scarlett wore a white sleeveless dress that fell to her knees, the flowy skirt swaying as she walked. She made her way to her friends, who were at another table.
"Hi!"
"Hey, Luna!"
"Sup?"
"Ohhh, you're so pretty! I can't believe you're going to be Luna! This is so exciting!" Allison exclaimed.
"Thanks, but I'm more nervous than excited."
"Those are just the butterflies talking, girl. Here, take a beer." Kai offered. "Thanks." The cold liquid slid down her throat, relaxing her tense muscles just a bit. "Now don't go getting drunk on me, okay?" Connor smothered. "I already have these two to take care of." Kai and Trainer rolled their eyes. "Okay, Mum."
