Rowhan's voice remained steady, though tension laced his words. "It seems you have business with me. Let her go, and we can settle this." His eyes never wavered as he spoke. His opponent responded with a mocking laugh. "Since when did you become a peacemaker? If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who brought her here in the first place. What's the harm now?" Before Rowhan could reply, the laughter resumed, crueler this time. "Oh, right. She's human. That must be the problem, isn't it?"
Rowhan's tone hardened. "This isn't about her being human. Human or not, she belongs with us." "Sure, you can take her." The three looked at him warily, sensing the trap. "But you'll have to go through me first." Allison forced a smile, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "One of you and three of us? Seems fair." He smirked, unfazed. "Go ahead. Show me what you've got."
Without hesitation, Allison sprinted forward with inhuman speed, but before she could land a blow, he flicked his wrist, slamming her into the wall with brutal force. She groaned, struggling to catch her breath as Rowhan's eyes widened. "A vampire with powers?" he muttered in disbelief. Their adversary's mocking grin widened. "What, scared of a little magic? Come on, buddy."
Rowhan didn't respond. Instead, he mind-linked his younger brother. You get Scarlett out of here. I'll handle him. Greyson understood immediately. While Rowhan charged toward their opponent, Greyson darted toward Scarlett, scooping her up as carefully as he could. His heart broke at the sight of her injuries, but he pushed down the emotion. There would be time for tears later. Tearing a strip of cloth from his shirt, he hastily bandaged her wounds, trying to stop the bleeding. He untied her bonds and handed her over to Allison, who was recovering from her earlier attack. "Get her to the pack house. Quickly."
Their enemy, Martin, noticed their movements but did not intervene. His focus was entirely on Rowhan, the one he had hated for so long.
As the fight continued, both Rowhan and Martin were bloodied, neither willing to back down. Greyson watched, knowing his brother was struggling. With Scarlett now safe, his mind had cleared, taking the time to come up with an idea.
He finally got it.
A brilliant idea struck him. One that can get them out of the situation. For good.
He mind-linked Rowhan again. Bite him. He's a vampire. Do it when he least expects it, make him think that he's winning.
Rowhan gave a subtle nod of understanding, then let himself stumble, falling to his knees in apparent defeat. "You think you're powerful now, don't you?" he taunted, feigning weakness.
Martin sneered. "Yes."
In the blink of an eye, Rowhan lunged forward, sinking his teeth into Martin. A werewolf's bite on a vampire was lethal, causing hallucinations, and eventually, death.
