February 2015

Bo shivered as she trailed behind the couple again, the trio following the path that had been just beyond the herd of elk.

"Matt?" Bo's voice was shaky as she broke the silence between the three of them.

He glanced back, opening his mouth, but quickly taking note of how much she was shivering, shrugging off his jacket, "Oh shit, here. Don't give it back after you warm up, wait a bit for it to settle in, give it back and when you start getting cold again, I'll give it back, okay?"

Bo nodded, taking it from him, muttering her thanks as she pulled it on, ignoring the look Emily was giving the two of them, too far ahead to hear what they were saying, but clearly seeing that Matt was giving Bo his jacket ─ Bo was just hoping Emily wasn't jealous. It was obvious that Matt only had eyes for her and that Bo was the most susceptible to the cold at the moment.

Immediately after pulling his jacket on, Bo felt relief as it started warming her up. Pulling her long hair out from under the jacket, Bo let it fall over her shoulders and back whichever way felt right.

They quickly moved to catch back up to Emily, quickly falling back into silence as they continued their trek through the woods.

"If we do manage to get someone on the radio─" Emily started to say once the silence seemed to get to be too much, only for Matt to cut her off.

"We will."

Bo had never realized just how optimistic Matt was. He was probably the most optimistic out of the whole group, taking up the role after Hannah....

"─then we tell them we need help." Emily shot him a small glare for cutting her off, "What do we do while we wait?"

Bo wasn't sure. It made more sense to stay by the radio in case contact needed to be made again, but how would they know if the others were still alright?

"We go back to the lodge and get everyone else." Matt said firmly.

Tugging her sleeves over her palms and hooking them under her fingers, Bo pulled the jacket sleeves over them to add another layer. She felt like her fingers were frozen solid, practically unable to feel them. She tucked her covered palms into the pockets of Matt's jacket.

"Oh God, not the lodge." Emily complained, "We should stay here, in case whoever it is needs to get back in touch with us?"

God, Bo hoped they were close. Hopefully the fire tower had a room that could be closed off from the cold to help warm her up. She was sure Matt and Emily had to be feeling the effects of the storm by now ─ especially the former now that he wasn't wearing his own jacket.
