LOST GIRL; EPILOGUE
turn it all around─────
March 2015
It had, in fact, been the end of it all.
Bo remembered Mike helping her up before going over to Sam and both of them helping the blonde up. Mike and Sam seemed to watch the lodge burn while Bo looked around for Emily and Chris, who both looked fine ─ although very exhausted ─ only a few feet away from them.
For a moment, Bo realized that they had known everyone's fate except for Matt's.
But when rescue picked them up, they mentioned another chopper had found someone on the mountain, nearly hypothermic due to a lack of jacket and Bo felt guilty for not having given him his jacket back, but it wasn't like they had planned to fall down into the mines. (That and Matt assured her he would've rather she have it given the state she had been in before he gave it to her anyway. Bo had hugged him for a while after that until Emily pulled her off of him.)
And Dr. Keller had been in for a treat when Bo showed up to her appointment. She had heard all about what had happened at the lodge, mostly the fact that it had burned to the ground, but nothing else as not much had been reported on it and immediately asked Bo if she had decided to commit arson at the sight of Michael Munroe.
Bo had laughed for a solid ten minutes before replying and telling her everything.
But the storytelling had taken up the whole time ─ especially since Bo had finally gotten the full story the day after when those of them that had made it sat and talked after the police got them all checked out (and luckily, neither her own wounds nor Emily's had gotten infected, which Bo thought was a miracle or just good karma for the night they endured overall) and sent home after giving their statements.
So, Dr. Keller had scheduled another appointment as soon as possible, only two weeks after the storytelling session, which was strange since Bo had gotten used to only seeing Dr. Keller once a month, but having her on speed-dial for quick, little inconveniences.
Bo held back her smile as she curled up in the corner of the couch, watching Dr. Keller try to figure out what to tackle first.
"I don't even know what to start with first. I know all I could really say last time was that I was very proud of you managing to keep calm in the moments you'd have normally lost your temper, but God, Bo..."
Snorting, Bo nodded. "Yeah, it was a wild time and I definitely still can't believe it all happened despite living it."
Dr. Keller nodded, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"We'll start small," She mumbled, tapping her pen against the pad of paper in front of her, "Relationships. How have those changed now?"
Bo bit the inside of her cheeks, ignoring how they flushed.
"Well, Sam and I's is still the same, but we check in on each other a lot more now. We'd never really been too close, but not too separated. Matt's sort of taken over the overprotective brother role since that night, especially since Emily and I finally managed to sit down and lay out all of our feelings from the past year and really talk things over, but I think she and I both knew that no matter what we were going to be friends again after what we went through."
"Good, good..." Dr. Keller said, her gaze softening, "And as for─"
Bo let out a small laugh. "Well Chris apologized for not standing up for me against Mike and Ashley in the safe room finally last week. He had kind of distanced himself from everyone after we had all talked after everything to get the full story. I understand ─ he lost both Josh and Ashley in one night and it was hard on him. He and I are.. working on our friendship now, but it's been pretty slow. I'm alright with that."
"And Mike?" Dr. Keller looked at Bo with amusement in her eyes, having picked up on the fact that Bo had found herself back to calling him by his nickname rather than the full first name she had used the last time they saw each other.
"Mike," Bo gave her a look, "and I are... I don't really know. He wouldn't stop apologizing about the safe room for the first week and after I snapped at him and said to stop apologizing because at that point it didn't feel like he meant it anymore, he did, but he had also snapped back and rambled on and on about how he didn't know how to put things into words, especially after he had learned that the stranger's journal said the bites weren't infectious like Em and I had said to begin with and that he shouldn't have ever let it get that far and that he.. realized after he left that he could've lost me right then and there for good and when he saw me again running from the Wendigos, all he had felt was relief knowing I was still there."
Bo took a deep breath, tapping her fingers against her thighs.
"I hadn't known what to say at first and we just sort of stood there before he asked if we could just finally talk about things. He wanted to hear everything and he wanted to share everything, even if I didn't want him in my life anymore and so we did, but we agreed after that we would restart as friends."
Dr. Keller hummed.
Bo narrowed her eyes. "Why are you humming like that?"
"Nothing, nothing."
"It's not nothing, tell me!"
"It's nothing, Bo."
"I don't believe you."
Dr. Keller rolled her eyes. "Fine. Do you still have romantic feelings for Michael Munroe?"
Bo sighed heavily, closing her eyes as she slumped back into the couch. She let out a groan.
"I don't know, everything's too fresh right now and it's all confusing because I still don't understand how Josh got to the point he did! I thought everything was okay as it could be given what he had gone through with losing the twins and that he'd come to me if he really needed to, only to find out that he wasn't as okay as he made himself out to be and I hate myself for not realizing since we had gotten so close after that night─"
"I have told you time and time again that you do not need to blame yourself for not noticing if someone you care about isn't as okay as they've shown themselves to be. It is not your fault for not realizing."
Bo nodded hesitantly, rubbing her forehead.
"I might.. still have some.. romantic feelings for him. Maybe." She admitted after Dr. Keller didn't say anything else.
"But you understand that everything is too fresh and that you two need to build back up that trust in your friendship before trying to become a couple again, right?"
Bo laughed, "Yes, Doc. I understand that and I'm pretty sure he does too. But maybe.. one day we can get there. I'd.. I think I'd like that. I've never felt so comfortable with another person before or after he and I had dated."
And it was true. The only difference now was that Bo finally felt relaxed with who she was after the lodge burned. She may not have done it herself considering it was all Sam and Mike, but it still had been quite cathartic for Bo and getting everything off of her chest to both Emily and Mike within days of each other had helped significantly.
Bo had never felt more ready to turn it all around and start fixing the relationships she had let break over a year ago. She didn't feel lost anymore.
Dr. Keller gave her a soft smile.
"Good. Now, we still have some time and I have many questions that do not relate to therapy at all."
"I don't blame you, it was quite confusing when I explained last time. Lay it all on me."
