LOST GIRL; CHAPTER FIVE
only one─────
June 2014
Bo propped her knee into the air, her hands lying flat on her stomach as she stared blankly at the ceiling of Dr. Keller's office. The therapist had left for a quick bathroom break, leaving Bo alone with her thoughts running rampant.
The door opened back up and the familiar sound of Dr. Keller's heels clicking against the tile filled Bo's ears.
"I see you decided to get comfy." Dr. Keller mused, sliding back into her seat across the table from Bo.
"Yeah, well, it was either that or start crying again and I'm tired of crying."
Dr. Keller sighed. "We've been over this Bo, crying is not a bad thing. You're still healing and crying is part of that process. It's alright to cry, especially here."
Bo shrugged as best she could in her position. "Today's just... a numb day, I guess. I know I can cry and as much as it feels like I'm about to, it just isn't happening. It's the exact same thing that happened at the funeral. Maybe I've just run out of tears for the situation. All that's left to work through is the anger now, not the sadness."
"The sadness is still there, because you wouldn't be so angry if you weren't still so upset. Bo, your sadness turns to anger, you know this."
Bo groaned, "I know, Doc. You don't have to always remind me. Four years and you'd think you'd know that constant reminders get more annoying than helpful."
"I do know that, but I also know that's in regard to general things and not your emotions. If you recall, it's constant reminders that got us to figure out how to keep your anger under control."
Bo narrowed her eyes at Dr. Keller as she turned her head to look at the woman.
"But," Dr. Keller continued before Bo could say anything in return, "let's get back to what we were discussing. The funeral in particular now since you brought it up."
Scoffing, Bo rolled her eyes. She did that to herself, she'd admit that.
"What about it?"
"Well, why don't you walk me through the event first?"
Bo shrugged again. "Chris picked me up since Josh couldn't. We got there, sat where Josh asked us to sit. I didn't talk to anyone unless they talked to me first. Jessica completely avoided me. Emily looked like she wanted to talk to me at some point, but talked herself out of it. I refused to even look at Pineapple."
That was a lie. Bo knew exactly what he had even been wearing. It was the same suit he had worn to Prom the previous year.
Bo hated that she knew that.
