LOST GIRL; PROLOGUE
end of it all─────
February 2014
Bo Patton was not a complicated girl.
She didn't play hard to get, she wasn't oblivious to the attention she got, but she did hold her own standards. And even if guys got annoyed and started saying she was too high maintenance, too much effort for them to want anything more than a quick fuck ─ which Bo couldn't (and plain wouldn't even if she could with the way they treat girls) give them anyway and was mostly the turning point for the guys interested in her ─ Bo wasn't all too hung up on any of the losses over the years.
And for a while, Bo's insecurities only got worse. What if she never found someone willing to work with her on her boundaries and expectations and vice versa? Sure, she's young and has an entire life ahead of her but what if even years from now, Bo still couldn't find someone, let alone the one for her?
So when Mike expressed interest in Bo, despite hearing all about her failed attempts at finding something with other guys and knowing why they failed, Bo was surprised.
Mike wasn't someone she ever expected to be okay with it all. Despite being class president, Mike was a little bit of a player in high school. When he started showing more and more interest in Bo over the first few months of their final year in high school, Bo noticed the change in his maturity.
He wasn't the same boy he was at the beginning of high school and after some hesitations (and late nights of overthinking and asking literally almost everyone in their oddly put together friend group about what she should do ─ except for Hannah, as the girl had started to distance herself from Bo the moment Mike expressed public interest in her), Bo finally agreed to a date.
One date became three, three became five, and then on that fifth date ─ which Bo thought was adorable and not the route Mike normally would've taken based off of their previous dates, but later she realized exactly why he had done it considering it was something he knew Bo would love given what he had planned ─ Mike finally asked her out.
And here they were, months later, just under a year of being together officially.
Dating Mike Munroe was not something Bo had ever thought would happen, but for the past year or so he had been her rock, the only thing that she felt like would stay forever.
She had her insecurities and upsetting thoughts of maybe it isn't as perfect as it seems ─ especially when they disagree, but they had always been able to communicate properly and work things out so all of Bo's worrying was for nothing ─, but nothing had ever given her a reason to believe Mike would go against her boundaries.
