February 2015

Hands clasped together, Bo and Emily ran frantically through the snow and trees without stopping at any point. They did not want to get so close to the monster again, hoping to gain a large distance on it. Despite Emily's reluctance to go back to the lodge, the two girls didn't see any other choice in where to go.

Emily desperately knocked on the door with her free hand.

"Let us in! Let us in!"

Muffled voices carried through the door as Emily continued banging her hand against the door as they glanced behind them. It hadn't followed ─ but there wasn't a way to be sure about that with how fast it could move. It might be right behind them.

Bo and Emily tumbled inside as the door opened, their hands unclasping as they both crawled backwards, hands grabbing at their arms to help them up as Emily cried out for them to close to the door.

"Em, Bo, are you guys alright?"

Bo heard Chris ask. She didn't respond, running a hand through her hair as she knocked away whoever was helping her into the Great Room.

"I didn't think we'd make it─"

She hissed lowly as her hair brushed against the pulsating spot on her neck, the sound going unnoticed as the others continued to prod for information about why Emily had been screaming as they ran back. She stalked ahead of the group, sliding down the couch and onto the floor in front of it as Emily fell into the cushion beside her head, stumbling over her words.

Sam sat on the other side of Emily, Ashley falling to her knees beside Bo, one hand on Bo's shoulder. Bo didn't acknowledge her, staring ahead as question after question fell from everyone's lips.

Bo couldn't bring herself to say anything as she pressed her palms flat against the floorboards.

"Something's out there─" Emily breathed out.

Her heart was still hammering in her chest.

"Did you guys split up?" Ashley glanced between the two.

Bo tried to shake her head, but she felt like she couldn't move. What if it followed them all the way to the lodge? It moved so fast...

"A monster─" Emily cried out, "It's a monster─"

Chris interrupted her, "Wait! What are you talking about?"

Bo opened her mouth, only for the words to get caught in her throat. How could they describe what they had seen without sounding crazy?

"I said, there is something out there!" Emily exclaimed.

Everything was happening so fast. It was like she was back in the shed all over again. She hadn't even realized that tears had started to run down her face, dropping off of her chin and onto Matt's jacket ─ that was completely covered in grime and blood now.
