19 - Lesson

(Todo's pov)

by now Chloe's leg finally healed, so she was dancing again, so we were together in our final class of the day. the instructor announced that we'll be doing one last performance as the year's coming to a close. so this will both be a final culmination of all we learned this year, and a goodbye to the seniors.

"Auditions start tomorrow, the performance we're doing is on the bulletin board, it's good to know what you want to audition for, if this is your major, this is an important performance, as there will be scouts for various Dance agencies coming to this performance" the instructor announced. I walked over, looking at the bulletin board, seeing the performance we'd be doing, and the roles.

"Chloe, we're doing the one!" I mentioned, my favorite Dance is swan lake, so I was excited upon seeing it was the one we'll be working toward. the rest of the class knew my preference, and wished me luck getting whatever role I wanted, while getting one of the main roles would be exciting, but as long as I can get noticed, I wouldn't mind any role.

after class ended Chloe and I met up with Shinsou, and found Chloe's new friend Mage, and at the front gate there was another hybrid waiting to meet her at the gate, this time a Kitsune girl she introduced as Cora. She held multiple books, apparently Mage asked her to visit the bookstore as she'd forgotten to, and needed these particular books, two about Chinchilla care and Chinchilla based Hybrids, and one about Nekos?

Chloe got a notification on her news app, and her face darkened.

"what is it?" I asked.

"speculation that there's a serial killer in the area after what happened." she mentioned.

"oh, I heard that, so far the idea that the mall killing and Musume's death were the same person is just superstition so far. but serial killers do seem to have general themes or rituals that they like to stick to, and that girl and Musume fit the same general look, if yet another somewhat wealthy white woman dies, then it's definitely a serial killer." Mage rationalized.

"so you're doing well in your classes, and you seem to already want a Chinchilla, what else would you want?" I asked.

"I don't know, I wanted to ask Chloe for a second opinion when I actually start getting ready to go to a Hybrid shelter." Mage mentioned.

"why do you need your mother's approval to get two more? you said you live alone" Shinsou asked.

"Well, I got Cora, Nathan, Chantel, and Andi while I was living with her, by the time I moved out they learned how to take care of themselves, I have mental health issues, so she has to approve before I can make big non-essential purchases, and she wants me to prove I can take care of someone who doesn't understand how to take care of themselves yet." she explained.

"are you sure about getting a chinchilla? They require a lot of attention, and are really hard to take care of." Cora mentioned.

"I mean if I get too stressed out, the four of you have bells, so you'd be able to help a little." she mentioned, Cora nodded.

"Okay, but Nathan's begging you not to get another girl, he doesn't want to be the only boy in a house of 6 girls." she claimed. the five of us headed to my apartment together, Mage wanted to come over to Check on Midoriya. Chloe playfully whined, wanting Shinsou to carry her inside, so he Complied. I unlocked the door, and the five of us went inside, as usual, Midoriya greeted me with full enthusiasm.

Mage playfully pouted that she wasn't even noticed, and Cora burst out laughing.

"oh, hey" Midoriya finally noticed and greeted her.

"It's good to see you again, De- Midoriya, how are you doing here?" she asked.

"you too, I really like Shoucchan! He's amazing!" he beamed, making me blush.

"The one thing Midoriya cares about; Shoucchan." Shinsou insisted.

"Yep! It's cute Though!" Chloe smiled.

(Chloe's pov)

Mage pulled me aside, after looking around the apartment.

she whispered, "are they dating, or just really good friends?" she asked.

"no, they're not officially dating" I told her, she thought for a moment.

"ah... If they're not going to get together soon, they should probably have separate beds, at least until they do get together..." she explained.

"hm? why? is there something wrong with them sleeping together?" I asked.

"well, it's not so much them sleeping together itself, it's just, if Todo says or does something that Midoriya perceives as returning affection, it can trigger a rut, unlike the animals they're associated with, because human "mating" is more tied to emotional connections, their heat or ruts are more related to emotions rather than a set cycle. during a rut, he could get a lot more touchy, thing is, not even Deku- I mean Midoriya, will not notice the rut start, so if they're sleeping in the same bed, that could cause him to touch Todo inappropriately in his sleep, and only a few moments later realize, 'wait, wft am I doing?' I set up sleeping arrangements according to sexuality to avoid the issue, Cora and Chantel are both straight so they share a bed with me, Andi's gay, so she sleeps in the guest room, and Nathan's straight so he sleeps on a futon in the living room, and I already have a semi plan for where the next two could be." she explained. so I'm going to have to warn Todo about the possibility that Midoriya might go into a rut.
