You pout as you step outside into the snow, clutching your arms tighter around your torso in a futile attempt to keep yourself warm, the air is so cool and crisp that you can barely move your legs to walk.
You eventually waddle your way around to the back of your house, finding Sabo sat in the snow with a cheeky grin etched into his features whilst rubbing his bloated stomach - he had once again stolen your father's food this morning and since you've managed to convince the old man that you have some kind of fast ninja-rats in your home, he has stormed off into town to get some rat poison.
"I hope you're proud of yourself." You playfully chime as you approach your ghostly lover, your fingers immediately reaching out to stroke his blonde locks subtly as your eyes glance off toward the woodland surrounding your home. "Some innocent rats are soon to be murdered because of you and your greediness."
Of course, the blonde only chuckles at your comment while instinctively tilting his head slightly more into your touch, a playful glint in his eyes as his stare follows yours toward the trees. "Sorry, I usually try to be well-mannered but when it comes to food..." You don't even need to look at the boy to know he's currently dribbling over the mere thought of the breakfast he had stolen earlier - he must be the hungriest ghost you've ever heard of.
I'm sure even cannibal ghosts aren't this gluttonous! ...Are they?
"Of course they are!" Sabo chuckles, clearly being able to hear your thoughts as he beams up at you while raising to his feet. "You think corpses turn into skeletons over time? No way, cannibal ghosts eat their bodies~!"
You can tell by his tone that he's merely joking so with a subtle scoff, you lean your head into the handsome male's chest, inhaling his scents as you playfully respond; "Oh, of course. How foolish of me."
You can't remember being able to smell him this strongly when you had first came across him as a mere friendly ghost, it's like his scent has strengthened over time...just like his spirit.
However, you're snapped out of the thought when you spot something within the woodland area. It's not a dog, not a deer, but a person by the looks of it. They seem petite so it's certainly not your father and from what you've heard about your neighbour, the only other person who lives near you and goes by the name Dracule Mihawk, he's supposedly tall enough to be rather intimidating.
"Did you...?"
"Yeah." Sabo answers immediately, already knowing exactly what you were going to ask.
Who the hell was that?
Instantly, you begin to walk toward the spot in which you had seen the mystery person, but Sabo is hot on your tail and grabs your sleeve before you can quite make it through the trees, forcing you to stop and turn to look at him.
"Don't go, they could be dangerous!" His voice sounding suddenly far less playful now and his expression filling with deep concern, the adorable look on his face even causing your heart to clench slightly before you offer him a reassuring smile.
"I can take care of myself, don't worry." Tugging yourself gently from the blonde's hold, he very reluctantly releases your sleeve but he doesn't hesitate to follow you through the woods, his hand still instinctively brushing against yours with every step you both take.
"I can't protect you from psychical threats, [f/n]! Please, let's go back!"
It's only now that you notice something odd.
"How are you here? I thought you couldn't leave your property." You calmly note, your eyes looking the boy up and down on impulse, almost as if you were making sure his legs are still attached to his body or that he hasn't begun to fade away.
