"I feel fat." You semi-seriously complain while resting back into your seat with your hand on your stomach - which now feels like it's twice the size it should be.
Not that you're necessarily complaining, Sabo is a lovely cook and even better company, you're usually so busy eating that you don't talk when you've been out on dates before but this with Sabo; a homemade dinner, in your very own dining room with fun and carefree company, it just so happens to be the best date you've ever had.
Although the thought of dates does send your mind racing.
How would I treat him to dates? I'm not half as good at cooking as he is and it's not like we can go anywhere!
You're so wrapped up in these questions that you don't realise how the blonde sat across from you frowns, his gaze slowly trailing off to the side as he brings his glass of water to his lips, awkwardly taking a sip of the liquid despite not having any real need for drinks when he's dead.
Your mind spiralling to the point where you begin to nibble on your lip, the only activity you can think of is movie night but that's hardly exciting for somebody who likes to fidget as much as Sabo does.
What if somebody asks if I'm in a relationship? What am I gonna say?? Yes, with a ghost?! They'll think I'm insane!
"If you'd like to date a living person," Sabo lowly voices once he had finished drinking every last drop of his water, gently setting the glass back down on the table. "I won't hold it against you. We could have an open relationship or - if you'd prefer - we could just agree that this isn't going to work and stay friends."
Despite how calmly the blonde speaks and how reasonable he's being, his words still sting.
Your brows furrowing as a pout etches itself into your features, impulsively shaking your head in firm disapproval. "I don't do open relationships and I don't care about dating other people." For a moment there, you had forgotten he can read your mind, that is going to be a problem every now and then for sure. "I just want to impress you." Your words are almost a whisper by this point as your stare trails down to his hands instead, a bit of shyness kicking in as you slightly open up to the ghost, your new lover. "I've never been big on dating before, even less so about dating ghosts so this is all a little...strange, for me."
"Heh, no kiddin'~!" The blonde carelessly chimes, his body noticeably relaxing at your claims as he rests his elbows on the dining table, propping his chin up on top of his knuckles. "I never thought a living person would ever see me, let alone have any special feelings toward me. It's a little strange and unexpected, but I'm happy."
If you'd just look at the boy's facial expression, you'd see for yourself that he's wearing a wide and sweet smile and his eyes are practically twinkling at the idea of you being his official girlfriend.
"Don't stress over dates too much either, Petal. I just enjoy speaking to you and having you close everyday...we don't need any grand gestures if we've got that, right?"
"Hm..." Admittedly, you never thought about it like that before. "...Yes, you're right."
The blonde merely chuckles at your words, a silence settling in before suddenly, he speaks again. "You let me call you 'petal' that time, are you warming up to me?" The boy teases with a somewhat smug yet adoring smirk, his eyes focusing on your own as your gaze finally snaps up to meet his.
"No! It just went over my head, I was focusing on the other stuff you were saying!"
And just like that, Sabo's bursting into fits of giggles once again.
His laughter is to die for though, not to mention extremely contagious.
You soon find yourself laughing along with him.
Well, that is until a sharp pain shoots through your stomach anyway, it would seem your stuffed tummy had an issue with your persistent laughter - a small groan cutting into your chortles as you clutch at your waist, a slight wince dominating your features.
Ow.
"Heh, maybe I gave you too much food." Sabo guiltily admits whilst raising from his seat and making his way around the table to you, briskly helping you get up also. "I'll have to be more attentive to your portions next time, huh?"
"Yeah, there was a lot but I didn't wanna waste it."
Is he used to feeding hungry wolves or something?
"Oh, something like that," The boy snickers, clearly responding to your thoughts as he guides you toward the stairs before gently helping you make your way up each step. "I used to cook a lot for my brothers, there was 5 of them and they had pretty big appetites."
"Ah, of course..." A small smile spreading across your lips although it's only brief, it immediately vanishes when you realise Sabo's guiding you toward the bedroom, likely attempting to make you rest again - something which displeases you greatly.
"Oh c'mon, Blondie! I'm not disabled!"
"Technically, you are. Until your foot heals, you've gotta take it easy."
But it's boring!
"Heh, relax petal, we can watch a movie together and make it fun~!"
"Stop calling me that and stop acting cute, damn it!"
