"Tch, those ninjas better not appear before me again or else I'll teach them a lesson they'll never forget,"
A voice said, a voice Sakura knew too well for the voice belonged to her father - Kizashi Haruno.
"Darling, calm down, we can deal with those bunch of nobodies later on," The pinkette heard another voice, Akumu Haruno, her lovely stepmother.
'Great, they just had to come back,' Sakura scoffed.
Even though Sakura knew that her parents were back from prison, she didn't go outside her room and only stayed there as she listened to their conversation.
She hid her chakra to not alert Kizashi who was trained as a ninja, of course, he couldn't fight against her because she excelled in things he couldn't but at the end of the day, she needed to maintain her identity as Sakura Haruno, the meek little girl who couldn't even hurt a fly.
She didn't mind taking risks, being a ninja was already risky enough, but its disadvantages were outweighed by its advantages. While in the current situation, if she dared to reveal her true abilities, she wouldn't have any advantage at all.
First of all, she would be accused of treachery and deception towards her village, and later on, she would be forced to do what the village told her.
There would be no freedom.
She was born to be free and no one could steal it away from her, not even gods themselves.
Sakura continued listening to the conversation happening below and she was bored of listening to Kizashi's continuous threats and cursing towards some ninjas.
Sakura rolled her eyes, 'As if you can take them on, you can't even beat Naruto,'
The pinkette knew that her father was a prideful and stupid person with a superiority complex. But he was a coward, he would never have the courage to even dare speak like this in front of those ninjas but his pride wouldn't allow him to take humiliation just this easily.
The only reason he was babbling this to Akumu was because she didn't understand things about ninjas since she was just a civilian.
Sakura knew that her father didn't love Akumu, he was not a person who could love someone apart from himself.
However, he loved the idea of possessing the woman people desired after as it gave his ego a boost but he didn't love Akumu.
However, Akumu loved her father, Kizashi, too much. According to her, Kizashi was equivalent to God. She would think he could do anything for her husband was the best.
How laughable was this?
Sakura knew her father too well and that's why she won before the fight even began.
'What a worthless trash you are, dear father. . .'
Currently, Team 7 are doing some extra training, why you ask?
Well, since Team 7 had been nominated for the upcoming chunin exams, Naruto being the overly excited teammate decided that they needed extra training to beat everyone in the chunin exams.
Hearing Naruto's words about beating everyone, Sakura wanted to scoff.
Did he think that the chunin exams were a walk in the park?
He probably did.
After all, he had nothing but feathers as a brain.
"Huff," Sakura panted as she stopped running.
Was she really tired? No, of course not!
But she had to pretend, you know.
Pretending she was tired or else how would she, a clanless genin, be able to keep up with the Uchiha prodigy, the Hokage's hidden son with enormous chakra and a prodigious ninja who graduated at such a young age?
She was tired, not actually tired where she needed to take some rest or anything, she was tired of pretending.
How long did she have to continue pretending to be Sakura Haruno? Would she ever be able to face the world with her real self? Why was she getting so much criticism just for being human?
"Hey, Sakura! Maybe you should take some rest, it'll be too difficult for you! "
Sakura looked beside her to see her blue-eyed blonde teammate looking at her, his face showed concern as he kept on looking at her but she saw in his eyes - bright blue yet cold - it was as if he knew she would get tired.
He really wasn't concerned about her, in his words the pinkette sensed some arrogance.
What did he mean by 'it'll be too difficult for you' other than the fact that he was looking down on her? He was clearly mocking her internally while he was asking if she was alright.
He didn't care enough about her, the only reason he asked her to take some rest was because of basic courtesy.
Of course, why would he care for her?
She was just a random clanless child who ended up being in his team.
Sakura looked at her team who were waiting for her to complete running the laps.
"I'm... alright."
She gives them a smile,
A fake one.
Cause they will never know.
