Season Three. Episode Six. Mash Off

SANTANA WAS PROUD OF HER GIRL FOR EXPRESSING HER FEELINGS OUT LOUD. But the growing tension between Ruby Carter and Noah Puckerman was becoming more apparent to the rest of the glee club. Especially after Ruby's performance last week, nobody really knew what was happening with their friends anymore. The New Directions were notorious for swapping partners and sleeping with each other so the fact nobody was physically prying their way into relationship was confusing all of them even more.

Puck was particularly more moody than usual and Ruby was doing her best to avoid him to avoid hurting his feelings but in doing so, was not only hurting Puck's feelings but her own too. The tension was all about to bubble over as the two lovers sung their heart's out during an angst filled performance in the choir room.

Ruby's chest heaved as she tried to capture her breath as she stood chest to chest with Puck. Their friends applauding them slowly, unaware if they were about to pull a Rachel and Finn at Nationals. Upon realising they weren't; Rachel led the charge and picked up her applause, the rest of them following suit. The noise pulling them out of the trance as they turned to their friends politely.

"Incredible, you two! You could really feel the emotion you put into the performance. Well done! Puck and Ruby, everyone!" Mr Schue gestured, applauding once more.

"I think we need to talk."  Puck whispered.

Nodding in agreement, "Mr Schue, do you mind if we nip out? We have something important to discuss."  Ruby coughed, nervously.

Awkwardly slipping her hand into Puck's slightly sweaty bigger one, Ruby pulled him straight out of the choir room and into the nearest empty quiet one. Electing to not say anything, Puck made the first move. "What's going on with us? I thought we were good?"

"We are -- We are good."  Ruby whipped her head in his direction. But she didn't think she sounded as convincing as she did in her head.

"Come on Bee. We're better than this! We don't lie to each other remember, you said that!"

"It's just -- You treat me so well. Better than I ever thought you would and I -- I feel guilty."

"Guilty?"

"Sam contacted me the opening night of West Side Story" Ruby sighed, "And I haven't been able to stop thinking about him. I feel guilty that I still care about him and have all these feelings for him when I know he isn't coming back. Then, there's you."  The brunette sent him a genuine warm smile, "I think we have to admit I think we've crossed over the casual line. We are basically an old married couple!"

"We've always been an old married couple though, it's just we've added the bedroom to the dynamic. That's all."  Puck shrugged; a little confused.

"I know but I don't want to hurt you, when I know I'm hurting myself by this guilt that runs through me when I think about how much I love someone who isn't even returning back to Ohio! All of these feelings -- It's just all become a bit too much."
