Season Two. Episode Sixteen. Original Song
AFTER THIS WEEK'S PLOT TWIST OF QUINN AGREEING WITH RACHEL, THAT WE INDEED SHOULD BE WRITING ORIGINAL SONGS FOR REGIONALS. The New Directions had gone full steam ahead with having a go at becoming the next Burt Bacharach. Not with much success but they were getting there. Well Ruby hoped they were getting there because she wasn't going to sway in the back as Rachel Berry sang Only Child that was for sure.
On top of their constant writing; Ruby had been observing the two former nemesis' trying to figure out why Quinn was hyping Rachel up and sticking up for her when they all knew they weren't the best of friends. Ruby knew Quinn and she knew Rachel and Quinn was definitely covering something up and she had a feeling it was something to do with the tall goofy quarterback sat next to her.
But Regionals was a week away; they didn't have a setlist and Mr Schue was adamant to stick with the idea of original songs and was currently handing out rhyming dictionaries out in hopes it would help the process. And as much as Ruby loved the idea of being totally original and standing out from the rest of the competition, she felt they definitely weren't going to be ready with an entire setlist in less than a week.
"Mr Schue?"
Santana spoke up. Ahh yes finally someone who would talk some sense into him before it was too late. "Tina and I have been already working on a song that I wrote." Wait this isn't where Ruby thought this was going!
"Really? That's amazing! Well, can we hear it?"
Jumping up; the two girls made their way towards the piano where Santana introduced her songwriting debut. "This is a song that I wrote for Sam. It's called Trouty Mouth."
"Wait. What's it called?"
"Trouty Mouth." Mike confirmed to the blonde and Ruby sent him a warning glare from the other side of Sam. Ruby was baffled as to why she would pinpoint something like this in a song, when clearly Sam was already uncomfortable with the comments that people already made about his mouth.
*Trouty Mouth performed by Santana Lopez*
"Okay. Can we stop? Stop with the mouth jokes!" Sam shouted, jumping out of his seat to confront her.
"Sit down. I'm not finished." Santana snapped at him.
Scared that some sort of confrontation was about to happen and with the already brewing tension within glee sky rocketing. Ruby leapt out of her seat and came to Sam's aide. "Santana." She warned her friend before wrapping a had around Sam's arm; urging him to sit back down.
"Bee, we know you like ole' Trouty Mouth as much as I do, considering that performance last week that was dripping in sex from the two of you but I insist you stay out of this."
Dropping Sam's arm; Ruby took a step back. Shocked at Santana being confrontational with her when Ruby knew her whole relationship with Sam was a sham anyway, plus considering how supportive the younger girl was of her. Ruby was stunned into silence as to why she was being dragged into this mess, for purely sticking up for her friend who was uncomfortable.
