Chapter Eight: Broken Hearted

After a grueling day of classes, I finally went back to my dorm room.  When I got to the door I heard laughing coming from the inside. I had desperately hoped that Blaze was alone so that I could tell her what had happened between Reese and I.

I hesitantly opened the door and found Blaze sitting on her bed and Ryan was sitting in her desk chair holding a guitar. "What's going on here?" I asked.

"Well, Jakey here, why don't you show Ri?" Blaze said in a sweet tone. Oh for the love of Monster, what do they have planned for me?

The next second I knew, Ryan was playing the guitar and started singing.

Late night, phone calls. Bags packed, so long Night drives. Long flight. Nothing good about saying good-bye bye

I was completely awe struck. Ryan had an amazing voice. He sounded like an angel! I couldn't believe he was singing this to me! It was one of my favorite songs by a band other than Hollywood Undead!  He sang all the notes perfectly.

He sang all the way through the song, and then stared at me to gauge my reaction. I didn't notice how warm my cheeks felt until both of them were staring at me. I didn't know how to react at all.

"So, did you like it Riley?" Blaze asked, finally breaking the silence. "His band is going to be doing a cover of it. They're gonna make it even more famous than it already is. Didn't he sound amazing?"

"Y-yea-yeah," I stuttered, unable to break eye contact with Ryan.  "Look, Blaze, I need to talk to you alone."

Blaze looked uncertain, but Ryan stood up and said," It's okay, I can take a hint. Goodbye Ms. Anderson." He had a sad tone in his voice. He left the room and Blaze looked at me expectantly. Emotions swirled through my heart. Oh my God, I love Ryan!

"Hold on," I said and ran out the door after Ryan. I barely caught him as he started leaving the dorm and into the pounding rain. "Ryan! Wait!" I shouted after him and he stopped and spun around.

"What do you want?" He yelled. I could tell he was upset. I didn't stop running at him until I was within arm's reach of him.

"I love you," I said and crashed my lips against his. He kissed me back instantly and passionately. I have no idea how long we stood there kissing in the rain, but it felt like forever. I never wanted to let him go. I knew I was going to have a horrible cold after this, but I didn't care at all. I was in love with this boy, and I realize now that I don't want to go another day without him.

*RYAN'S POV*

"So, did you like it Riley?" Blaze asked, finally breaking the silence that ensued as soon as I finished singing. "His band is going to be doing a cover of it. They're gonna make it even more famous than it already is. Didn't he sound amazing?"

"Y-yea-yeah," Riley stuttered, unable to break eye contact with me, and I her.  "Look, Blaze, I need to talk to you alone."

Blaze looked uncertain, but I stood up and said," It's okay, I can take a hint. Goodbye Ms. Anderson." I left the room feeling an assortment of feelings. Hatred, broken hearted, and disappointed.

"Ryan! Wait!" I heard Riley shout after me and I stopped and spun around.

"What do you want?" I snapped. I hadn't really meant to sound so mean, but she had just broken my heart. I could tell that she didn't feel the same way. I knew she had fallen in love with Reese, and I was too late.

Riley kept running towards me until she was right in front of me. If I leaned down I could kiss those perfect lips of hers and...

"I love you,"  She said suddenly and crashed her lips against mine. I kissed her back instantly and passionately. I have no idea how long we stood there kissing in the rain, but it felt like forever. I never wanted to let her go. I knew I was going to have a horrible cold after this, but I didn't care at all. I was in love with this girl, and I refuse to go another day without her.

But then I remember something. "Look, Riley, I love you too, but I can't be with you. I'm so sorry." I said then walked off into the rain. This had to have been the hardest thing I had ever had to do. I could feel my heart shattering and could only imagine what she was going through.

I didn't stop walking away from her though. Even though my heart told me to stay, I know I couldn't be with her. It was impossible. I should never have done what I did. I just couldn't let her fragile heart be broke by that jack ass. Although, I probably just broke it now.

I really hope she doesn't hate me...
