"Zoey, you have three seconds to answer me," I told her, growing impatient. I mean, what could she have been doing to get grass in her hair? At a party? With hot guys? I mean, the chances of it being something completely innocent are slim.
"I wasn't doing anything bad, I swear!" She defended, her eyes growing wide. I could tell she was growing scared, I really probably should tone it down a bit, but she is my responsibility.
"Oh really? Then what were you doing? You realize when you're not answering my question raises my suspicion, right?" I warned her.
"Riley, a couple of guys-"
"What, what did they do?" I demanded.
"They brought me out back to go star gazing!" She finished in a single breath. She looked at me with her wide innocent eyes. I raised my eyebrow, I could tell there was more to the story. "They're names were Zach and Nathan. They told me I was beautiful and asked if I wanted to hang out with them. They said they didn't want to do anything bad! They said that we were just gonna star gaze, I swear that's all we did!"
"That doesn't necessarily explain the grass in your hair, Zo," I said, deadpan. I twirled the piece of grass in my fingers and looked at her.
"We were laying on the ground. They didn't grab a blanket, so we all got covered in grass," She replied.
I let out a sigh of relief, "Okay, it's just, you're my responsibility. If anything happened to you-"
"I'm fine. I swear. Look, here comes Zach and Nathan right now!" She exclaimed pointing off to the side. I did have to admit they were pretty attractive. They both were tall and had shaggy brown hair. I smiled at them and waved them over.
"So, you think Zoey is pretty, huh?" I said with a soft smile. They both nodded their heads eagerly. "Now, which one of you is Zach, and which is Nathan?"
"I'm Zach," Said the one with the blue eyes. He pointed to the brown eyed boy next to him saying, "That's Nate."
"Nice to meet you both." I dropped my voice to a whisper, "What did you want with my cousin here?"
"We just thought she looked bored and lonely," Zach said.
"Yeah, we just wanted to keep her company. I swear we didn't do anything bad. She told us she was here with her cousin, but her cousin was a little preoccupied." Nate took over. I nodded my head.
"Okay boys, thanks for keeping her company. Just be good to her okay? I can tell neither of you guys drank anything, so I can trust you won't do anything stupid?" I asked them politely.
"Yes ma'am," They replied in unison. They looked pretty nervous, so I gave them a kind smile. I hoped that it would calm them down a little bit.
"Thank you. I have to go find someone," I said looking around, realizing that Sage was gone. I sighed and walked away, leaving Zoey in the care of the boys.
I walked around the party for a little while until my phone started ringing. I quickly fished it out of my pocket and checked who was calling me. Callie. I hit the answer button and heard her moan.
"Are you okay, Cal?" I asked, a little bit worried.
"Can you come upstairs to my bathroom? I need you." She mumbled before she started gagging. I let her know I was on my way and ran upstairs.
After stumbling on the stairs and pushing people out of my way, I had finally arrived at the entrance to Callie's room. I walked in slowly, shutting the door behind me, and was hit by the smell of vomit. "Ri!" She called from the bathroom.
"I'm here," I called back, making my way to her private bathroom. "Are you okay?"
"Promise me you won't ever let me drink this much again. I thought Zo was her!" She replied with a sneer. "Zoey is too good to be some wretched skank like her. Or even to remind anyone of her at all!"
"Yeah, do you know where Sage went?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"He's-"
"I'm right here," a male voice said from behind me. "I just wanted to let you guys know that some cops are coming down the street. I think they were stopping here. I already got Zoey out. I figured she meant a lot to both of you."
"Did you warn everyone?" I asked nervously. That's the last thing I need on my record. Mom will seriously send me back to hell, or to live with my grandparents.
"Yeah, I also made sure they didn't look too suspicious," He replied. "I think we're safe. You don't mind if I stay right Callie?"
"No problem. Stay if you want," She mumbled coming from the bathroom. She looked horrible.
"Good, that way I can give you guys some sort of alibi possibly," he smiled. He must have noticed my questioning look, so he continued, "My father is the chief. We have some influence. That, and I've made it look like an impromptu study group down there."
"Thank you," Callie said, surprising me. Callie never says thank you to anyone. Or uses any manners for the most part.

And, there's this chapter(I can't remember the number at the moment sooo)! I hope you all enjoyed. I know it's been forever since I've updated, and I'm sorry. I'll try to get the last one or two done quicker. I promise to try.
As always I hope you loved it. What do you think of Sage? What do you think those two guys really wanted?
