Chapter nine: Fight
*RILEY’S POV^
Look, Riley, I love you too, but I can’t be with you. I’m so sorry. That line went through my mind a million times as I just stayed standing watching as his silhouette became smaller and smaller. The rain kept coming down hard, but I couldn’t feel anything, couldn’t think of anything other than the fact that the guy of my dreams just kissed me then said that he couldn’t be with me.
I hardly even notice when I felt somebody lift me up and carry me inside the building. I just kept staring off in the distance. I could feel myself being sat into a chair.
“Is she okay?” I heard Blaze ask the person who carried me.
“I have no idea,” Said a male voice that sounded like Reese’s. “Do you know what happened?”
“No, I only know that Jakey sang to her then he left, and she followed after him,” Blaze replied,” Here, let’s take her to our room. It’s warmer in there, I bet she’s freezing.” Once again I felt arms around me and was lifted out of the chair I was sat in.
“What did he do to her?” Reese asked worried. Blaze shrugged,” What did he do to you beautiful.” I took a deep breath and told them everything.
“That asshole!” Blaze yelled and threw something across the room. “Why would he do something like that?!”
“Apparently he got what he wanted from her,” Reese said matter a factly. “He obviously never really wanted her, or else he would have stayed by her side and didn’t just walk off.”
“Maybe we should ask Parker what’s going on with him,” Blaze suggested. I just shrugged.
“I’m tired,” I said, and Reese took that as his cue to leave.
“We’ll get to the bottom of this,” He promised before walking out the door and shutting it softly behind him.
“Don’t worry, we’ll fix this,” Blaze said before turning out the light,” Just be happy we don’t have school tomorrow.”
I fell asleep almost instantly.
***
The next morning as Blaze and I walked into the cafeteria for breakfast, Ryan wasn’t there. Parker and Reese looked tense though. After getting our food we walked towards our usual table. “Where’s my brother?” Blaze asked as we approached.
“He said he wasn’t coming, something about having to catch up on a lot of work or something,” Parker said. “I tried getting him to come, but he refused. He said you guys probably didn’t want to see him anyways.”
“Damn, what is wrong with that kid?” Blaze said sighing. “I think he’s just scared he hurt Ri too much and that she hates him. But you don’t hate him do you?” She asked me and I shook my head.
All of a sudden all the chatter in the lunchroom stopped and everyone turned their heads to the doorway. I followed everyone’s gaze and saw Ryan coming inside with his arm wrapped around some blonde’s shoulders.
“You know what,” I said regaining the attention of my group,” I’m not so hungry anyways, I think I’ll just go back to the dorm and get caught up.”
They all shot me a look of sympathy but nodded their heads. As I turned around I heard Reese speak up. “I think I’ll go with you. I have a lot of homework too.”
I nodded and started walking off towards the dorm room with Reese. “He’s just hurt, don’t worry , he’ll come around.” Reese said ending the small silence that came between us.
