Chapter two: Arriving in England
I woke up the next morning feeling dread. I’m leaving out to England this morning. What if they don’t like me there? What if I’m not smart enough? I mean, I’m not exactly stupid, but I’m not exactly the brightest either.
“Riley! Are you ready yet?” My father yelled up the stairs. I sighed and rolled out of bed to grab the only thing left in my closet. Mother said that she already sent my trunks full of everything else to the school, so it should be there when I get there.
Grudgingly, I pulled out the light blue sundress out of my closet and my silver flats. The dress, when I put it on, clung to my upper body and billowed out when it reached my waist. On it is a simple accessory of only a slim silver belt. My hair, since I washed it last night, was hanging in loose curls around my shoulders. Normally, I would hate this look, but for once it fell in a way that looked beautiful.
The only makeup I had left in my room was simple black eyeliner, black mascara, and a pale pink lip gloss. It depressed me because usually my vanity is covered in all my makeup and hair supplies with pictures all around the mirror. Now it’s completely bare.
“Riley!” I heard my mother call as she walked into my room, “How many times must we-“She stopped mid sentence and stared at me. “What’s wrong sweetie?” I realized for the first time that I was crying.
“What if they don’t like me there?” I asked, trying not to let my voice quaver.
“They will honey,” She said and rubbed my back soothingly,” your beautiful, and smart. Just be yourself, and they’ll love you. I promise.”
I sighed and nodded my head.
“So are you ready?” She asked calmly, all the anger in her voice completely disappeared. I nodded my head again and stood up slowly, silently thanking God that I opted for waterproof makeup. If I didn’t, then I would have to redo it. I refuse to go to my new school looking like crap.
So a half hour later, we were at the airport saying our goodbyes right before I boarded the plane. “This is it,” I said sighing, pulling away from my parents’ bear hug. Both of them had tears in their eyes, and I fought my own back.
“We’ll email you every day, honey,” my dad said.
“Have a good time sweetie, remember, the golden rule, if their after sex, they are not worth your time,” my mom said with a small smile then kissed my cheek and I chuckled.
“So this is it,” I said with a sigh. I heard the final call for my flight, and I said bye before boarding the plane. I took my seat and shut off my phone glumly

I’m not sure how long I was on the plane, but it felt like forever before we were getting off. There are a few things that ran through my head as I entered the airport. One, I’m defiantly not in Malibu anymore; through the windows I could see dark rain clouds. Two, I’m on my own from here on out until the end of this year. Three, my life will never be the same.
I had just turned my phone back on when I heard my name being called. “Riley Anderson!” I looked up hesitantly to see who it was. When I looked it was a fairly young man in a tux with blond hair and a gorgeous smile. I smiled back and walked towards him putting away my phone.
“Hello, my name is Reese Withers,” He said holding out his hand for me to shake.
“Riley Anderson,” I said taking his hand. “So you’re the one who’s gonna take me to Wellington Academy?”
“Yes, ma’am,” He said. I already fell in love with his British accent, but I knew in time, that would be my accent too, and I’d hear it constantly. I’ve always loved British accents.
“Call me Riley,” I said,” being called ma’am feels too formal.”
“Okay, Riley,” He said, smiling again. I just noticed his totally adorable dimples. “Are you ready?”
“Yes, I believe I am,” I replied nervously and shuffled my feet.
“Hey, look at me,” he said,” it’s not so bad living in England, I should know, I was new here too once upon a time ago. It’s not so bad.”
I smiled at him and nodded. I think I just made a new friend already. “Well, then let’s go.” We left. A few minutes into our drive I tried to strike a conversation,”So, do you go to Wellington?”
“Actually, I do,” was all he said. He seemed distracted. But occasionally I saw him glance at me through the rearview mirror.
“Oh, cool, so do you know uhm,” I started trying to think of my new roommates name,” a girl named Blaze Rivets?”
“Yes, she is uh- well she’s unique,” he replied as if he didn’t know how to describe her.
The conversation dropped there as I continued thinking about my new school. Soon, though, I was pulled from my thoughts as we pulled into the front of the school. “So, do you need help carrying your stuff or anything?” He asked nervously.
“That would be wonderful,” I said gushingly. Throughout most of the trip I was secretly staring at him. He has some nice, defined muscles and a nice tan.
AS soon as Reese gathered all of my bags, we headed off to the building. He told me tons of things I should know about the school as we walked to the headmaster’s office.
*BLAZE”S POV*
“She should be here any minute,” Headmonster Rivets said in a so reassuring voice. But let’s face it, he sounded as if he’d rather be doing anything else too rather than just waiting on little miss America. “In the meantime, you do have strict rules to follow. No more of this head frying behavior, got it?”
“Yawn, the good behavior speech again?” I asked annoyed and flipped my purple hair behind my shoulder. Yes, purple. You have a problem with that? Good, now shut up about it.
“Yes, you know how high our standards are here Blaze. You should be so lucky your mother and I let you dye your hair in the first place,” He said. He gave me the look, and that’s when I knew he was damn serious.
Yeah, I’m one of the biggest troublemakers at Wellington Academy, and yes my daddy is the headmaster, so what? I still don’t get away with everything. I didn’t even ask my parents if I could dye my hair. I just did it. You should have seen the look on their faces!
The door opened, and a males voice called,” Here she is Headmaster Rivets!” I turned around and was greeted by the amazing Reese Withers. I winked at him, and he blushed.
“Ah, hello Miss Anderson, welcome to Wellington Academy!” My father said from behind his desk in a cheery voice. My mouth gaped when I saw Riley. She was going to be my new roommate? Her? Really father? “I expect you had a good flight?”
“Yessir, and I hope to have even a greater time here, this place is beautiful! It looks like a palace!” Riley gushed. Such a suck up. I hate her already.
