"Hoot Hoot!" Hooty exclaimed excitedly, as the two witches came into view. "Luz, you're back! And you brought a friend!"
Amity turned red, pushing her hair behind her twitching ear. Luz smiled awkwardly at the owl.
"Yup..." she said slowly. "We're back! Is Eda home yet?"
Hooty shook his head, with the same creepy smile as he always had on his face.
"She'll be back in the morning!" Hooty said, spinning his head. "In the meantime, how about I tell you about the time that..."
Luz smiled sympathetically, before slowly pushing the door open.
"Not right now Hooty..." she explained, glancing awkwardly at Amity."We're kind of busy..."
Amity wouldn't look up at the owl demon, instead she just followed Luz inside without saying a word or even registering Hooty's presence. Luz smiled at her excitedly, before leading her up to her room. The walls were strung with fairy lights, and on the floor lay a single sleeping bag and pillow with a picture of Luz, and who Amity assumed to be her mom, sitting beside them. Luz then made her way over to her small, purple suitcase, pulling out an oversized black, shirt with the picture of some sort of yellow human flower on it, and a pair of red boxer shorts.
"Here," she smiled, handing the clothes to Amity. "Something a bit more comfortable."
Amity turned pink, smiling back at the human.
"Thanks, I'll um... I'll go get changed in the bathroom."
Luz grinned. "Perfect, I'll meet you in the living room."
Amity slowly made her way to the bathroom of the Owl House, her head spinning and her heart fluttering. She didn't know why, but the idea of Luz lending Amity her clothes made her heart whirl. These gay panics were beginning to get annoying. She shut the door behind her and looked at herself in the mirror once again, thoughts of the human filling her head. Her heart ached, knowing it was nothing more than a dumb fantasy... Luz would never feel the same way. Tears stung her golden eyes, creeping their way down her fine, cheeks. Why was she crying? Luz was back... everything was finally back to normal... as normal as things could be. But something nagged the back of her head. Maybe it was her parents abandonment, still fresh on her mind. Or the events of the day finally catching up to her... A surge of emotion overwhelmed her, threatening to choke her. She sunk to the floor, burying her head in her hands, tears streaming down her face, wetting her dress.
"Gods Amity... you're an embarrassment..." she said to herself, a sob escaping her throat.
She clasped her hands over her mouth, trying to cut off the noise, she didn't was Luz to see her like this... as a mess...
"Amity?" she heard Luz call, her footsteps echoing on the wooden steps.
Amity took a deep breath. "H-here!" she answered, her voice shaking uncontrollably.
Luz knocked on the bathroom door, which was just met by another sob from the girl on the other side.
The door swung open, revealing Luz, her face filled with worry. When she looked at the ground to see Amity, she immediately fell to the floor, moving over to the crying witch, wrapping her arms around her protectively.
"Ams, it's okay... it's okay... shhh shh shh," she said stroking Amity's green hair soothingly.
Amity buried her face into Luz's shoulder, her body shaking, racked with sobs. Luz just sat there, her arms around the witch, stroking her hair and muttering words of encouragement under her breath. They seemed to sit there for hours, the moon was already bright in the sky when Amity finally steadied herself, and brought her head up from Luz's shoulder.
