The next morning, Joe wakes before the sun does, quietly making his way into the closet and changing into some shorts, a tee and his running shoes.
He goes for a 3 mile run, making it back to the house before Addison has woken. He then takes a shower, getting dressed in a pair of jeans and a tee before making his way downstairs and starting to make breakfast.
Upstairs, a while later, Addison opens her eyes, groaning lightly before sitting up and rubbing the sleep away from her face.
Getting up, she slides on her slippers and goes downstairs, the smell of bacon and syrup engulfing the air.
Addison grins, leaning on the wall at the edge of the kitchen, watching him lovingly.
"Good morning to you too," he says, without having to turn and look at her.
She smiles, walking forward as he turns around with a plate of bacon eggs and two pancakes on it.
"Thank you."
"Mmhmm, " he says, leaning down and kissing her before they both sit at the table.
"What's our plan for the day?" Addison asks, grinning.
"Actually, we are going to visit a friend of mine today for a little bit and then after we're done that I figured we'd just come home and relax."
She gives him a look. "Okay?"
He chuckles. "Just trust me," he grins.
She nods. "Okay."
Once they finish breakfast, Joe insists on cleaning up while Addison goes upstairs, showers and puts on a pair of jeans, a top and some boots. She then quickly does her hair and puts on some mascara before jumping down the stairs.
Joe chuckles. "Are you ready?"
She smiles. "I am."
He nods, grinning. "Let's go then."
The two of them get in the car and take a semi-long drive... long enough for Addison to ask "are we there yet" twice from getting bored and Joe to answer "you're just like a child" both times.
Once arriving, the two of them get out of the car and Addison asks, yet again.
"Joe, why are we here?"
"I thought you may wanna play with a puppy," he says, shrugging.
"A puppy?" she asks, raising a brow.
He nods, showing her a photo of an Alaskan Klee Kai on his phone.
She gasps. "What?! He has one?"
Joe shrugs. "Well, kinda."
"What do you mean, kinda?" she asks.
"He's ours," Joe shrugs, starting off towards the door.
"Wait, what?!" she exclaims, chasing after him.
He chuckles, knocking on the door.
"Joe, what do you mean it's ours?" she asks, tugging on his arm like a child.
He chuckles and the door swings open.
"What's up, man?!" his friend says as they do a handshake and Joe leads Addison into the house.
"This is Addison," Joe introduces her.
"Hi, Addison," his friend says, grinning. "I've heard a lot about you."
"Aww," she says, grinning. "Sorry I'm a little confused right now."
Joe chuckles. "I just told her."
"Oh really?" his friend chuckles. "Well, he's right in there."
He points towards a room off in the corner, grinning.
Addison gives Joe a look who nods at her before nodding towards the door his friend pointed at.
She takes a few steps towards the door, biting her lip as she reaches for the knob and opens the door to find the Alaskan Klee Kai she's been talking about for the past few months with Joe.
Her hand covers her mouth almost immediately and she looks to Joe.
"Are you kidding me?!"
He chuckles. "He's all yours babe."
Addison looks back to the puppy. "Hi," she says softly, stepping over the small baby gate Joe's friend had put up so he couldn't roam around the house. She crouches down to the energetic puppy who in return begins to attempt to bite her hands, making her giggle.
She hears Joe start talking to his friend, obviously giving her a moment to take in the new news she had just found out, so she continues to play with the puppy until she feels a presence behind her, making her look up.
"Hi," she grins.
"You ready? We gotta go get stuff for him," Joe chuckles.
"He's really coming with us?" she says, looking up admiringly at him.
Joe nods. "Yes, he's coming with us."
Addison grins, picking up the puppy and handing him to Joe so she can climb over the gate before taking him from Joe's arms again.
Addison looks over to Joe's friend. "Thank you."
Joe's friend chuckles, nodding. "You're very welcome."
Addison and Joe walk out to the car and get in, Addison keeping the puppy on her lap.
"Does he have a name?" she asks, looking over at him.
Joe chuckles, shrugging. "I don't know, does he?"
She looks down at the puppy, tilting her head for a second. "What about... Porky."
"Porky?" Joe asks, chuckling.
"He's a chunk."
Joe shakes his head. "Okay, Porky it is."
After stopping at the pet store to get a collar, bowls, food, toys, etc. Joe and Addison arrive home, Porky of course in Addison's arms until they get inside, at which time she lets him explore before taking him to the backyard.
Joe smiles and watches from the kitchen, happy to see Addison so happy, especially after everything she's been through recently.
For the rest of the day, Joe and Addison spend time in the living room, playing with Porky, smiling, laughing and simply enjoying each other's company.
While the two are laying in bed that night, Porky lays at the end of the bed, Addison falls into a comfortable sleep, cuddled up to Joe. Meanwhile, Joe lays there, looking down at Addison admiringly before grabbing his phone and making a decision he probably should've run by Addison first. Then, after it was too late, he sets his phone down, placing a kiss on Addison's head and trying to doze off to sleep before the anxious thoughts creep into his mind.
