After traveling for a few weeks, both Joe and Addison are relieved to get back to California.

Addison couldn't wait to get back to work, hoping it would take her mind off of what has been going on in her life. It seemed as though it was falling apart. The man she grew up knowing as her father had died and then she found out that her parents weren't actually her parents. The last thing she needed was another mention of bad news.

Addison had been thinking... a lot. So much, in fact, that she had made a decision about what to do. She just hadn't told Joe yet because she didn't want him to be the one to follow through. She knows how much he cares and she wanted to do this herself. And she planned to make that clear to him.

"See you tomorrow honey," Addison's boss says, smiling over at her as she grabs her bag.

"See ya," Addison grins lightly, leaving the diner and making her way to her apartment where she see's Joe's car parked outside.

She rolls her eyes, a grin playing on her lips. Going upstairs, she unlocks the door.

"Babe! I know you're here!" she calls out.

He chuckles from the kitchen. "I figured you'd spot my car. I brought dinner."

She puts her bag down, kissing him before sitting at the table where he already had dinner out. "Wow. thank you."

"Of course," he smiles, sitting across from her.

"I um, actually was gonna ask you to come over tonight anyway, so I'm glad you did." she tells him, starting to cut the chicken breast he had ordered for her.

"I know, it's been a couple days," he chuckles.

"Well, yes. But I also wanted to talk to you because I think I've made a decision on what I want to do."

Joe stops, looking up as she continues to look at the food, cutting up the chicken so she doesn't have to pick the knife back up after every bite... just as she always does.

"You... you made a decision?"

She licks her lips, setting her knife down and looking up at him. "Yeah."

"Okay," he nods. "Do you want to eat first and then talk about it or just get it over with now?"

She laughs lightly. "I've decided that I don't want to press charges against Jacklyn for my abduction."

Joe nods. "Okay."

"And I'll make sure to make that clear when I find my biological mother as well."

Joe's brows raise. "You've decided you want to find them?"

She nods. "Yeah. I do. I mean, I wanna know where I come from. What kind of people they are. Even if they don't necessarily want a relationship with me or whatever. I just want to know who they are."

Joe grins lightly. "I can't imagine anyone not wanting a relationship with you."

She rolls her eyes. "You wouldn't. But Joe, I need to ask you a favor."

He nods. "Anything."

"I wanna do this on my own. I mean, I want you to be there. Support me through it all. Be by my side. But..."

"You don't want me doing it for you." he states. "I understand. I'll be there if you need me but I won't overstep. You have my word."

She grins. "Thank you. I'm especially going to need you this weekend."

Joe furrows his eyebrows, taking a bite of his chicken. "Why?"

"Because we're going to Texas."

He raises his brows. "Why?"

"Because I need to talk to Jacklyn," she states.

He blinks. "Oh. um, okay?"

"I need her to know that although I want nothing to do with her, I am not pressing charges. Mostly because she has children that I thought were my siblings and I want them to be taken care of with their mother around considering their father can no longer have that chance. Not to mention, I need something to go off of. A name or something. If not, I'll never find my parents."

"Do you think she'll give that to you?"

"I hope so," Addison shrugs. "That's all I can do, yknow?"

He nods. "Well, I can't say I'll be comfortable going into that house and sitting with her."

"I know, you're angry. I don't expect you to do that. As long as you're with me before and after, I'll be okay."

He grins, nodding. "Thank you for understanding my side."

"I know. They hurt me, you're angry."

He smirks before his face twists into a face of disgust. "It makes me sound like your brother."

"Ew!" Addison exclaims, laughing. "No! Boyfriends can be like that too!"

He laughs. "Yeah! Okay! Y'know what, you're right! I'm your boyfriend that is very angry and isn't sure he can keep his mouth shut if he's near the person that hurt his girlfriend."

She nods. "That sounds better."

He grins, grabbing her hand and squeezing it gently.

She sends him a soft smile.

The next day, after Addison gets off work, she goes to her apartment where Joe waits for her and they head to the airport, getting on their plane and landing in Texas a few hours later.

They spend the night in their hotel. The night much quieter than they normally are, the nerves radiating off Addison as tension comes off Joe. She knew he wouldn't be going with her the next day to talk to Jacklyn, and she understood why. She just wished she would have him there by her side.

The next morning, Addison gets up early, unable to sleep from the nerves. Running out into town, she grabs Joe and herself some breakfast before going back to the hotel room, sitting and eating with him.

"Are you sure you're okay with me not going with you today?" he asks, obviously hesitant.

Addison nods. "Yeah, babe, I know you don't want to be around her and I can't blame you. I'll be okay."

He licks his lips, gulping. "Okay. But I'll go with you if you really want me to."

"Babe," she says, giving him a look. "It's okay. Really."

He nods. "Okay. Well, I'll be here when you're done."

She grins, nodding.

After they finish eating, Addison makes her way away from the hotel and towards her childhood home, feeling her anxiety rise into her throat as she approaches the gate.

The gate opens, allowing her to walk onto the property and to the front door where the door is immediately opened for her.

She nods at the door man once out of respect.

As she walks in, Stella stomps away from the kitchen, noticing her and stopping in her tracks.

"Addison." she says, shocked.

"What?" Jacklyn's voice is heard.

"What are you doing here?" Stella asks softly.

"I need to talk to your mother," Addison says.

"Stella what did you-" Jacklyn stops her voice, walking into the room. "Addison."

"I need to talk to you," Addison says firmly although not rudely.

Jacklyn nods. "Stella, go to your room. I need to talk to Addison alone."

Stella glances between them a couple times before leaving the room and going upstairs as she was told.

Jacklyn looks over to Addison. "Would you like to sit in the kitchen?"
