A couple days later, as Addison has gone back to work, Justin spends his time in her apartment, patiently waiting for her to get home... or not.

"Dude, have you seriously been sitting at her place all day?" Kevin asks over the Facetime call Joe had made to him five minutes ago.

"Yes, I have Kev," Joe answers.

"Why are you so on edge?" Kevin asks, chuckling. "She's just at work."

"Because," Joe sighs. "She's going through a lot right now and it got even more complicated recently and I worry about her. Plus, I was kind planning to ask her if um-"

"You're gonna ask her to move in?" Kevin asks, his eyes widening.

Joe sighs, nodding. "Do you think it's a bad idea?"

Kevin chuckles, shaking his head. "No, I mean I have no doubt Addison is the girl you're going to marry but you guys haven't even been dating a year yet, yknow?" I mean not to mention, as you said, she has a lot going on right now. Do you think she'll want to move if she has so much already going on?"

Joe shrugs. "I was kind of thinking it might cause a sense of stability through everything going on with her."

Kevin gives him a confused look.

Joe sighs. "So, basically, after Addison's father died, her mother sat her down and told her that they actually aren't her parents... like at all."

"What does that mean?" Kevin asks, confused. "She's adopted?"

Joe shakes his head. "No, that's the fucked up part, Kev. Addison's biological parents were good friends with Jacklyn and David. When David and Jackyln couldn't conceive, they took Addison away from her parents just a couple months after she was born."

Kevin's eyes widen. "So, she was kidnapped."

"Abducted," Joe says, nodding.

"What the hell?" Kevin says. "Is she gonna report them?"

Joe shakes his head. "She decided not to, no. I mean, they did raise her, y'know? I partially get her decision but it's up to her so I don't ask questions. She decided she wants to find her actual parents. Even if they don't want a relationship she wants to know where she came from."

Kevin nods. "It makes sense."

"I know, I'd wanna know too."

"No, I mean the fact that she was abducted."

Joe raises his eyebrows.

"I mean, she ran away because she felt like she was so different from her family and valued other things over what they wanted her to. Doesn't that say something?" Kevin explains.

Joe tilts his head from side to side. "Maybe... But Stella, the girl she thought was her sister who isn't actually her sister I guess, feels the same way about everything and she is their biological daughter. So it could be a factor but I think that's not just Addison. Y'know?"

Kevin nods. "Oh, gotcha. Good point."

"So? Do you think she'll say yes?" Joe asks.

Kevin sighs. "Honestly man, if she wasn't going through all of this I'd say she would say yes in a heartbeat but depending on how she feels about you asking her while everything is happening, it might be no. Not because she doesn't want to but simply because she doesn't want to add something on top of everything else. But I do get how you say it might be a sign of stability. It means you don't plan on going anywhere and you're in it for the long haul and maybe that's what she needs," Kevin shrugs.
