Saying one more goodbye to her parents, Addison promises to reach out and visit soon before getting into the cab with Hope and refusing to allow herself to look back as it leaves the house and heads towards the airport.
"You okay?" Hope asks.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Addison answers, refusing to look at her.
"Well, maybe because you just met them and only got to spend two days with them?" Hope asks, reaching out and grabbing her hand. "It's okay, Ads. I understand you wish you had more time with them before having to leave."
Addison nods, finally looking over at her with tears in her eyes. "Yeah I do. But I can visit them after they move. I mean, they're moving to New Jersey... how perfect is that?"
Hope laughs lightly, nodding. "Pretty fucking perfect."
Arriving to the airport, Addison and Hope go their separate ways, boarding their own planes.
Once in California, Addison gets off the plane and gets in the car waiting for her, the driver Joe had left for her in the driver's seat as she sits in the back.
"Home, ma'am?" he asks.
"Yes, please, Carl," she says, spending the entire time staring out the window at passing cars and people walking on the sidewalks.
As she arrives home, she enters the empty house, kicking her shoes off, starting her laundry and going upstairs to change into a more comfortable outfit.
"It's times like this I wish we had a dog," Addison sighs to herself.
Deciding against dwelling on what isn't, Addison rolls over, noticing that Joe's pillow somehow still smells of him. She grabs it, pulling it closer to herself and finding herself drifting off into a nap.
The sound of her phone awakes Addison, making her eyes pop open. She rubs them tiredly, grabbing her phone and answering the FaceTime call.
"Well, look who it is," Cole's voice says.
"Dude, I told you not to call her again!" Joe yells after him, grabbing the phone. "Hi sleepyhead."
"Hi," Addison says sleepily, rubbing her eyes again.
"I told him not to call you 'cause you were sleeping."
"How did you know I was sleeping?" she asks, narrowing her eyes at the screen.
"I called you a couple times and you didn't answer so I got worried and had Carl come check on you. He said you were sleeping so I decided we'd talk tomorrow but obviously Cole thought otherwise."
"Oh, wow, I didn't hear my phone at all," she says, laughing a little.
Joe chuckles. "Must be tired. Everything okay?"
She nods. "Yeah, I'm good. Just traveling today and the past few days being so busy doing stuff has apparently taken a toll on me."
He nods. "It does. Do you work tomorrow?"
Addison nods. "Yeah, what time is it?"
"Well, it's almost 7 here so it must be around midnight for you," he says.
"Oh shit, I slept through dinner," Addison sighs.
He chuckles. "You should probably get up and eat something."
She nods. "I will, as soon as we get off the phone I'll eat. But for now..." she pauses, laying down again. "How was your day?"
He grins. "It was okay. Better if you were here though."
