*Niall’s POV*
I was gonna tell her. I really was. I just didn’t know how. I’ve known from the very beginning, but she hasn’t. I should’ve been straight forward with her, letting her know the circumstances, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t find myself to break her heart. But I know it was breaking mine.
She would understand right? I mean she’s the type of girl who would understand. But right now, looking into her eyes, I can’t. She’s clinging onto my neck for dear life, telling me about how happy she is. How happy she is that she gets to stay three more weeks. I promised myself that I would never do anything to hurt my girl, but this time I had to.
I know it was horrible of me. It was incredibly mean of me not to tell her. I just didn’t want to ruin this summer. This perfect summer. This magical summer. I’ve been waiting my whole life for a girl like this. And now that I have her, I have to let her go. I shouldn’t have even fell for her, shouldn’t have even asked her to be my girlfriend. But something about her made me change my mind. I should’ve kept myself from falling in love. It was inevitable what I have to do, but I’ve been procrastinating ever since. And know that I have her, I can’t live without her. That’s what I’ve realized in these past few weeks: I can’t live without her.
“That’s great Y/N!” I faked a smile, nothing compared to hers. She was so genuinely happy, how could I ruin that?
“Aren’t you excited Ni?” she asked pulling back to look me in the eyes. Her petite fingers were still around the nape of my neck, weaving themselves in and out of my hair. I would miss this.
“Of course,” I kissed her lips once, softly. Her desirable lips that tasted like candy against mine.
“C’mon,” she said tilting her head barely to the side, “What’s up?” Damn, this girl was good. How could she tell something was wrong?
“Nothing,” I mumbled shrugging calmly.
“Niall,” she said softly, “You know you can tell me anything.”
“Anything?” I asked clearing my throat.
“Anything,” she confirmed.
“Well-“ I blinked rapidly as my breathing grew staggered, “It’s just-“ I paused for a moment to see her expression. Her eyes full of hope, her smile still full of happiness.
“Just…” she trailed.
“It’s just I love you,” I smiled warmly, “That’s all.”
“I love you too Niall,” she giggled remotely satisfied.
“Good,” I whispered into her hair as she hugged me tightly. I held her in my arms, squeezing back firmly, treasuring every millisecond of time we had together. While she didn’t hate me.
“It’s getting late,” she said her benevolent eyes flickering out my glass door where the sun was setting to a dark navy.
“Yeah,” I said, “Why don’t we just watch a movie or something?”
“Sure,” she shrugged. I walked over to my case of movies next to the tv stand. I sifted through them throwing out the old ones, the boring ones, the romantic ones. I wasn’t in any mood to watch a lovey-dovey movies right now.
“What about….Finding Nemo,” I chuckled to myself, “This was one of my all-time favorite childhood movies.”
“Sounds good,” she replied. I popped it into the dvd player before retreating back to the couch beside Y/N. She snuggled up close to me as my wrapped my arm carelessly around her shoulder. She fidgeted throughout the movie, trying to get comfortable. She rested her head on my chest, as I tried to keep my body heat on her. I never wanted her to feel unloved.
*Second Person POV*
“I can see why you love this movie,” you smiled up to Niall. He laughed.
“Yeah. Me and my brother would always watch this together,” he replied.
“You’ve never told me much about your family Niall,” you said pulling away slightly from his strong grasp.
“You’ve never told me much about yours either,” he shot back.
“Well, what would you like to know?” you asked.
“Siblings?”
“I have one brother.”
“Me too,” your conversations often faded out like this. But it was a comfortable silence it led to. Everything with Niall was comfortable. It’s as if he always wanted you to feel loved, and you did.
“Y/N. I need to tell you something,” Niall said suddenly. His voice shaky and brisk. You saw him start to rub his fingers together, his palms growing clamy. His eyes kept flickering back and forth between the glass door facing the beach, and you. You swallowed as he continued on.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” he said quietly.
“I knew something was wrong. What is it?” you asked bringing a hand to his cheek, “Remember…I love you Niall.”
“I love you too. But I need you to keep an open mind about this,” he whispered.
“Wha-“ he cut you off, his breathing stuttered, his eyes closed.
“Y/N I’m going on tour.”
