“Liam?!” you cried out.

“I said the band…”

“Liam?!” you repeated regaining your balance.

“The band…”

“So Liam’s coming?!”

“The band-yes. Liam is coming,” he sighed.

“Oh no no no no. This can’t be happening,” you gripped harshly onto your temples, rubbing in tight circles. “Call them back,” you concluded.

“And?”

“And tell them not to come.”

“And why would I do that?”

“Because I can’t see Liam. I just can’t. Not now anyways.”

“They’ve already booked their flights. All the way from London. There’s nothing they can do now.”

“But there is! Just tell them-tell them-tell them that you’re gonna fly there!”

“Y/N!” he said running over to you and holding you by the shoulders, “Calm down.”

“This is not exactly the best time to be telling me to calm down Niall. Why would you tell them to come here? You know how I feel about Liam!”

“This wasn’t my idea, honest Y/N. I-“

“That’s it!” you said snapping your fingers in instant enlightenment.

“What’s it?” he said releasing his touch from yours. You ignored him, running into your room. You yanked your phone from its charging spot, swiftly unlocking it. Dialing those 7 magic digits, you awaited an answer.

“Y/N?”

“Ellie!”

“Hey Y/N. Whats-“

“Don’t talk. Just listen. Could you possibly get here as fast as you can? Like by tomorrow? You could stay with me, in my house. Just for a few weeks, and then you can back to Rosemount.”

“Wha-“

“I’ll explain later,” you said out of breath.

“I mean I guess. It sounds fun. But why-“

“Could you just come? For me?”

“Of course Y/N. Is something wrong? Are you okay?” she suddenly sounded concerned.

“Oh I’m fine. I just really miss you, and want you to be here.”

“Well alrighty then. I’ll start packing my things!” there’s the joyful Ellie you knew, “Could I get there on Monday?”

“No! You have to be here as soon as possible El! Like by tomorrow morning!” the urgency in your voice was convincing enough.

“Okay okay. I’ll see you then! Can’t wait!” she squealed as you hung up and returned to Niall.

“Problem solved,” you smiled clapping your hands together.

“Ellie?”

“Lucky guess.”

“C’mon enough about Liam. Let’s get your mind off of him. How about some ice cream?” he sounded like a little boy, but you nodded eagerly. Ice cream sounded amazing right now…

You sat cross-legged on your porch watching the sun with a bowl of ice cream in hand. You watched the moon’s reflection melt into the ocean, disappearing into nothing. The breeze was less evident tonight, the air was flat and silent. You dipped your frigid spoon into your mouth as you heard him break the unavoidable silence.

“How'd he do it?”

“Who?”

“Liam?”

“Do what-oh,” you placed your bowl down onto the bamboo side table, “One day I came home early, and he was just there. With her. In the living room. Together. You know…kissing.”

“Just like that?”

“Just like that,” you looked up at the calmed darkness, “If I had just come home minutes later. I would’ve never seen him. We might even still be together. But doubt it.”

“Wow. That was a horrible thing for him to do Y/N. I never knew Liam could be so-“

“Heartless? Rude? Cruel? Uncaring? Yeah me neither,” you said shaking your head.

“Hey come here,” he said scooting his chair closer to yours so that he could put an arm around you, “What he did was stupid. Really, really stupid. But it’s all in the past. And there’s nothing you can change about the past. There’s nothing you can do but move on.” Something flickered your mind back to earlier that day. When you had found that book: Horio’s Book of Magic. And made that wish. I want to be with him, because I know we were meant to be together…

*The Next Morning*

Knock knock! Your eyes shot up, struggling to look for the time. 7:24. You heard another light knock at the door. You groaned, Niall always had to wake you up so damn early. That boy…But when you got up to answer it, you noticed the blondie crashed on your couch. His arm was slung over the side of the couch, with his mouth parted slightly. His hair was a mop and it looked as if he was drooling. You couldn’t help but laugh as you walked by him. Wait. You stopped in your tracks. If Niall wasn’t…

”Y/N. I know you’re in there! Open the god damn door!” You screeched in excitement, bolting for the front door. You unlocked it, opening it wide to reveal your best friend in the entire world.

“El!”

“Y/N!” You ran into her arms, causing her to drop her multiple suitcases. “Over packing much?” She giggled. “Come in omg! Let me help you,” you grabbed one of her stuffed, polka dot suitcases nearly falling over. You walked into the house to see a very groggy Niall stretching his arms wide. He yawned as he saw you.

“Wait! Niall-“ you rolled your eyes.

“Yes El. We’ve established this already. He is Niall Horan from New Direction.”

One Direction!” Niall corrected roughly.

“Anyways! Let me help you unpack!” you exclaimed taking the suitcases into the empty room. You unzipped one of her suitcases to a mountain of clothes. Nothing was folded. You laughed as you took them out one by one, straightening any wrinkles.

“So you still never told me why I’m here,” she said examining the room roof to ceiling.

“Right…” you said taking a seat on the neat bed, “Remember Liam?”

“How could I forget?”

“Well yeah. He’s in Niall’s band…”

“Wait. Y/N? You didn’t know that?”

“No? And you did?!” you said giving her a look.

“Of course…you didn’t know?”

“No!” your voice escalated, “And you didn’t bother to tell me?!”

“I didn’t think you wanted to talk about it, I mean him.”

“I didn’t. But-“

“-That’s why I was freaking out on Skype the other day.”

“Oh that would make sense…but still. I can’t believe you knew this and didn’t tell me…”

“I’m sorry Y/N. Are you mad?” you saw her look down and start picking at her freshly manicured nails.

“No! Of course not! How could I be mad at my Ellie?” you smiled playfully pushing her shoulder. She gave her signature giggle in response. “But anyways…they’re coming. Today.” And as if on cue Niall called from the living room. Everything these days seemed like magic. Literally.

“Y/N! Ellie! They’re here!”
