You stumbled back, nearly tripping over your own feet and the stairs beneath you. His gentle arms caught you in the fall, balancing you this time. You looked up at him, barely visible in the darkened night. His eyes swirled, as he got ready to fall again, you held him up ignoring what had just happened. You walked him into your house; he was in no shape to make the short journey to his place. And besides, the others probably filled up his whole house. He was just gonna stay at yours tonight. You led him into one of the empty rooms, helping him down gently on the queen bed. He fell to the bed with a thump, falling into a instantly, peaceful sleep. You heard him mumble something, but you left so quickly you would never know. You shut the door quietly behind you, before leaning back against. You slid down the skinny doorframe, holding onto your head. Then a stunned finger went up to your lips, feeling the very place he had just touched. It tingled. You still remember the feel of his drunken lips upon yours, slowly molding his touch to yours. Your mind was totally void of the mild alcohol taste, for the taste of his lips were far more overpowering.

“Y/N?” your eyes shot open. “Y/N?” You lifted your head up from the couch, eyeing the hung over British boy.
“What?” you made out from your groggy awakening.
“Why am I at your house?” he said as his hands massaged his pounding temples.
“Oh. Um you got er-a little drunk last night, and your house was already filled with the others, so I brought you here,” you explained in a breath.
“Oh,” he said simply, “That’s why my head hurts.”
“Here I think I have some Advil,” you said getting up to the kitchen. He must not remember anything right? He probably would’ve said something? Or maybe he’s trying to keep it a secret, trying to forget about it. It was kind of ripping you apart; you didn’t know what to think of the kiss. What did it mean? It took you hours just to fall asleep last night…You walked back to him with a tall glass of cold water, and two of the tiny, red Advil pills. “Swallow,” you commanded. He did as you said.
“Thanks.” You nodded slightly. “Where’s everyone else?”
“Like I told you, they’re all at your house.”
“We should go over there then,” he said looking around the empty house.
“Yeah,” you said. The two of you walked over to Niall’s place to see everyone fast asleep except for Liam. He was sitting on Niall’s couch with his feet propped up on the table watching something on tv.
“C’mon man. That was expensive,” he said slapping Liam’s legs with his forehand.
“Good morning,” Liam said remotely bitter this morning. “I moved Lou and Ellie into that room. Zayn’s in that room, and Harry’s in there.”
“I’ll go wake them,” you muttered so you wouldn’t have to be in the same room as Niall and Liam at the same time. You walked into the room where Ellie and Louis were, to find them cuddled up close to each other. You held back the tendency to awww at their adorableness. You went over to Ellie’s side rocking her softly back and forth, “Ellie. Time to get up.”
“No! Don’t touch her!” you jumped back as Louis screamed at you. You saw the hurt and defense in his eyes. He must still be a little out of it…
“Sorry,” you held up your arms, “She’s all yours.” You winked and backed out of the room slowly. You went into Zayn’s room, taking almost 10 minutes to wake the heavy sleeper. Harry was the easiest to wake up, all you had to do was knock twice on the door. You watched as the whole crew filed into the living room in a slow, lethargic walk. Everyone was holding onto their heads, and groaning.
“What happened last night?”
“You all got totally wasted. That’s what happened,” Liam said not taking his view off the tv screen. Another chorus of groans. Your eyes flashed over to Niall who was sitting on the couch next to Liam. His lips looked plush and desirable, just as they did yesterday. They looked so—so magical. But you didn’t like Niall remember? In fact, just a few days ago you couldn’t stand just being around him.
“Y/N? You okay?” Ellie asked walking over to your side. You twitched your head to the side motioning for her to follow you into the vacant room. She obliged happily.
“Y/N? You’re starting to scare me…” she said sitting on the bed beside you.
“There’s nothing to be scared about,” you said.
“Then what is it?”
“Um—“
“Just tell me! We tell each other everything!”
“Okay. Yesterday, when I was taking Niall back to his house-“ you stopped.
“Yes…”
“We kissed,” you finished briskly.
“You what?!” her eyes grew big as she leaned forward.
“You heard me,” you replied checking the door to make sure no one was there.
“So, are you two-like a thing now?” she looked as excited as ever.
“No!”
“But-“
“No!”
“But then why-“
“I-I just don’t know. He was drunk. And I’m pretty sure he forgets all that happened last night. So let’s just keep it that way.”
“But you two would make such a cute coupleeee!” she whined grabbing onto your arm.
“Yeah. Well it’s never gonna happen,” you said sourly, stressing the never. She gave you her best frown, which made you giggle a bit. “So anyways. What about you and Louis huh?” you said trying to switch the subject nudging her playfully on the shoulder.
“Oh I don’t know. I mean he’s completely adorable,” you could basically see the hearts flying out of her eyes, “But like you said. We were both drunk, and we didn’t know what we were doing.”
“You two would make the cutest couple,” you gushed and saw her blush a little.
“We better get back,” she sighed. You nodded in response. You walked towards the living room, when you stopped in your tracks. You could hear harsh whispering coming from outside. You stayed out of sight, with Ellie right on your heels. You put one finger to your lips, telling her to stay quiet. She nodded. You listened closely, trying to make out the fuzzy words.
“-hurt her-“
“I’m sorry-“
“-stay away from her!”
“ But I’m telling you I don’t remember a thing.”
You knew exactly who was talking, and who didn’t remember. Niall didn’t remember a thing from last night, meaning that he doesn’t remember the kiss. It’s all forgotten, and that’s all it ever will be.
It was a drunken mistake.
