"Advil?” she stuck out her hand in a bent motion, holding out the small pill. Your fingers slowly felt to your aching head. You pressed onto your temples with gripping fingers. You moaned out softly, the heaviness taking over your sight. The floaters in your eyes seizing to stop their jerking as you squeezed them together, rubbing harshly with your hands.
“Advil?” you muttered back a bit in a daze.
“Yes,” she said holding it closer to your spinning head, “Take one.” The simplest things reminded you of him. Whether it was one of their songs blasting way too loud on that little girl’s radio or from a simple advil pill. It was the pill that you gave him the morning after. The morning after he got so wasted he couldn’t breathe. The morning after he kissed you for the first time…
“Okay,” you mumbled fiddling with the sheets beneath you to sit up straight. She handed you the small tablet, her other hand handing you a tall glass of water. You flicked it to the back of your throat, throwing your head back to swallow. Your head shook with the sudden rush of sober liquid.
“Feeling better?”
“No,” you grumbled falling back to your pillow. You brought your hand up to feel your forehead, steaming with a fever. You groaned aloud. You peeked slightly between your roughened fingers, seeing Ellie’s slim figure staring back at you. She laughed and you groaned again, “This isn’t funny.”
“It kinda is.”
“Hey thanks for staying with me though,” you said flipping onto your stomach.
“What are best friend’s for?” there was the peppy Ellie you knew.
“How long was I out?” you said your lips smashing against the shaped pillow.
“Just a few hours,” she said back as you felt her distinct weight, balancing against the mattress.
“Ugh. How did I let this get so out of hand?” you mumbled spitefully.
“Well you were at the bar. And then you saw Niall on tv. And then you were talking to Rider—“ you stopped her.
“I know what happened,” you muttered rolling back to face her, “D-d-did I do anything with Rider?”
“Oh no,” she said quickly, “I stopped anything that would’ve happened don’t worry.” You let out a sigh of relief. He was a nice guy but—
“…Niall. You have to,” you looked up to face Ellie’s motoring words.
“W-what?” you asked still muzzily trying still trying to keep up after just waking up.
“You have to forget about Niall Y/N,” she repeated slower.
“It’s hard you know,” you whispered to her closing your eyes. It truly was hard. This was harder than your breakup with Liam. And that was bad. You were in such a terrible place, it took you years to recover. Imagine how long this one would take.
“I know I’m sorry,” she whispered back softly. But then your eyes popped open, your body shot up, and your burst out in sudden laughter as you heard Ellie’s ringtone. It was the chipmunk version of What Makes You Beautiful. She started dancing around, looking like a fool. It was what you needed, a laugh.
“Baby you light up my world like nobody else…”
She picked it up right before it could go play on any longer.
“Hello?” she chimed happily standing up to the side of the bed. Her expression lightened as she virtually grinned the person on the other line.
“Who is it?!” you cried instantly clearing your head to sit up. She brushed you away with the whisk of her hand as she walked her cellphone towards the kitchen. She kept you an arms length away as she continued to talk into the phone.
“Ellie!”
“Hold on Lou,” she rolled her eyes, your own widening. Louis?
“It’s Louis?!”
“Yes! Now shut up so I can talk to my long lost soul mate!” she snapped putting the phone back to her ear.
“I haven’t heard from you in forever!” “I miss you too!” “I know Louis. I’m sorry!” “Mmhmm.” “Yeah, her too.” “I’ll tell her.” “See you soon honey!” You listened in anticipation as she spoke the words. You tried pressing your head as close as possible to hers. She pulled away, smoothly continuing the conversation. She hung up quickly as you clung to her like a puppy.
“What is it? What did he say? Did he say anything about me—Wait did he say anything about Niall?”
“Whoa calm down Y/N. He just called because he missed me,” she smirked.
“Oh,” you mumbled to yourself half disappointed. What would Niall even have to say to you? That he misses you? That he wants you back? That he made a terrible mistake?
“Oh but he did say one thing.”
“What?!” you asked your hopes soaring once again.
“They’re coming here in three days for their tour. And Niall wants to see you.”
Or that.
