"Niall where are we going?!" you giggled as he ripped you through the all too familiar air. The scent of salt, sand, fresh catch filled your nostrils. You never thought you would smell it again, see it again.

"C'mon!" he urged, the grip on your hand tightening warmly. He ran across the thick sand bouldering towards the open sea.

That night at the concert, he had asked you to come on tour with him. You wouldn't be able to stay on the tour bus with them, but he would find a way to make it work, he had told you. And that's what you did. He drove you home instantly that night to pack your things, and you were off. You were going on tour with One Direction. It was a crazy idea, just thinking back at it. It was like an all too surreal vacation. The best vacation you've ever had. Scratch it-second best.

You and Niall had grown together with an inseparable bond. Between concerts and signings he always seemed to find time or you, his girlfriend. You loved watching him on stage. After the first few concerts with VIP tickets, you had pretty much memorized their whole soundtrack. You turned into one of those crazy fangirls, jumping out of control, ripping out your hair with your every move. It was the time of your life. As for Liam, you two set aside your differences. You had Niall, and he had Danielle. His wedding was in about month. And you couldn't be happier for him. At the beginning of the summer you despised the fact that Liam had moved on and had gotten engaged. But now you have a different outlook to everything, a positive one. And that's because of Niall. You became close to all the boys, you were like one big family now. They treated you like sisters, and you treated them like brothers. Well except for Niall, he treated you like his girlfriend.

"Why did you drive me all the way out here?" you asked kicking your slippers off leaving them halfway down the beachfront.

"You'll see!" he called back with a staring smile on his face. He ran you down right to the tip of the ocean, where blue met beige. Your toes wiggled at the frigid water clashing before you. The white foam, sprung up just barely enough to dampen your lower lip. You screamed in delight as Niall picked you up, slinging you over his right shoulder.

"Niall put me down!" you screamed thinking of the new halter and capris you were wearing, "You better not get me wet!" You felt him lightly chuckle from under you before putting you down. You straightened yourself out, taking a few steps away from the high-tide. "Now seriously why did we come all this way-" You looked to Niall who wasn't facing you anymore. His eyes were succumbed to the vast, dark ocean. The rippling waters, failed to slow down as they rolled in and out of shore. His eyes stayed fixated on the clouds above and beyond you. He ran a salted hand through his ruffled hair.

"Look at that one," he whispered, "It looks like a cow." You followed his finger to the largest of the three clouds. The head was blurry and hard to make out, but you could clearly see its udders peeking out from under its clouded body. It was one of the spotted clouds that made it look even more like a cow. Niall lips were played in a narrow smile as you recollected the same memory.

"Do you remember? Lying in this very spot, staring up into the sky and watching the clouds?" he swallowed with the memory in his palms, "It was the first time I really realized that I was falling for you." The silence overwhelmed talk, as all that was heard was the consistent crashing of the romantic waves.

"I remember," your voice nearly cracking with a smile.

"And do you know that this is the place where we first met?" his words snapping into your brain just like yesterday. You remember walking up to the beach, excited to start the new summer. Excited to start a fresh, new beginning. You remember strutting up in your way too small bikini, thinking no one else was here. But then you remember seeing him. His thin, fit figure staring out at the ocean just as he was doing right now. You first remember noticing his blonde hair and how it played up into a subtle quiff. You remember exactly the first word he spoke to you "Hi". It was a love story that began with "Hi".

"And this is where I asked you to be my girlfriend, despite everything that was going on around us?" you smiled as he smiled back to you. You remembered that just seconds before he challenged you to a football match. You remembered being taken off guard by his forward question, how you had only known each other for a week. A damn week that changed your life. You remember your body being pressed up so close against yours that you thought you would faint. His heavy breathing against your lips so musty and inviting. You remember the ocean still floating heavily around you as he laid the question. And you had said yes.

"And right over there," he pointed to the large boulders, "Is where I sang to you." You remember that one so vividly. You remember him guiding you over the rocks, helping you to the other side. You remember the cave like a dream, a wild dream of blue, purple, green. The cave was the mystical kind of thing that gave you chills. Then he sang. You didn't think that place could get any better, but then he sang. You remember the exact song he sang and his exact tone, his exact pitch.

You never love yourself half as much as I love you, you'll never treat yourself right darling but I want you to. If I let you know, I'm here for you maybe you'll love yourself like I love you oh...

But then you realized that he was singing out loud, in this present day. It wasn't an old recollection of the best summer of your life. It wasn't a mere memory that you wanted to store in the back of your head forever. It was real life. He was getting down on one knee. And that was real life too.

"And this very spot. Is where this is going to happen to," his aqua eyes sparkled up at you. His features softening as his left knee lightly scraped against the grains of sand. His hands fumbled for his shorts pocket. He pulled out a small, velvety black box. His fingers trembled as he spoke. "Y/N. You've changed my life around. From the very moment I saw you, right here on this beach. I knew you were different, I knew you were special, I knew you were the one. We've gone through so much together. From hating on Liam, to a very heated football match," he paused with a small chuckle. He looked up at you with forgiving eyes asking you to listen closely. "To me leaving you. And that was the worst thing that I've ever done in my whole life. I don't know how I could've left you like that. But I promise that I will never ever leave you again," the happy tears ran down your face like streamers. Your eyes blurring the vision you wanted oh so desperately to see. You wanted to see the exact expression on his face when he continued on. "Because Y/N. You and me, we're something different. This is true love. Because true love never dies. And that is why I'm asking you, Y/N Y/L/N. Will you marry me?" Your head cocked up in an attempt to seize the tears. But you surrendered letting them fall harder and harder onto the course sand. Your head bobbed up and down in a hasty nod. Your smiling perfectly matching his as he slid on the beautiful, diamond ring. It was sparkly, yet subtle just like you.

"I love you Y/N," before you could respond you felt his lips press themselves against yours. He must've tasted your salty tears because he was smiling wide against the kiss. His soft lips that you've craved every second since your first kiss. Your fingers locking with his hair, making it into the messy do that you had admired so much the very first day you met.

"I hope the rings okay," he mumbled pulling away softly. His fingers found yours, not letting you go. You looked down at the stunning thing staring back at you, asking yourself what you did to deserve this and smiled.

"It's perfect," you kissed his lips a second time, "It's magical."
